Conservation Congress Meeting

The meeting is Monday night in your counties across the state.
I would vote Yes to remove the application process for fall turkey and make it OTC.
The questions I found most interesting were those regarding frac sand mines, oil pipelines and trains transporting oil. An English Professor once showed me that you can tell someone's point of view not by what they say but by how they say it. Those questions are so slanted you can instantly tell which side of the political Spectrum the question writers are about to fall off of.
Ron - You of all people should be attending these functions. As much as some here hate to admit it, you have a tremendous amount of knowledge on many topics. Of course, your still wrong about the hunting/shooting hours but other than that I believe you have a great amount to offer.
I think it's unfortunate that you choose to get all giggy and not get involved here. You don't like it - change it man!!
For the record, I'm not a "former" cop...just yet, close. I haven't been feeling the best lately Ron and well, ya only got so many years! Maybe I'll tip over soon?
Remember, I have advised you and many here that all my comments are mine and no one else's! Please do not confuse that. But, Ill mention that again.
Any comments made by this writer are solely the opinion of this writer and no other person, business, organization or cooperation. They all belong to me. And Ron, as a US citizen I reserve my right to do that, much like yourself!
I proudly take full recognition for my certification and membership in the WCC, CDAC, Hunters Safety Instructor Program, Licensed Master Falconer. I am proud of each of the organizations and certifications.
Lastly Ron - Please accept my heartfelt apology if I have ever caused you any distress in our encounters here on Bowsite. Your a wonderful man and would be quite the inspiration to our youth with your building talents, not to mention many more!
Wished you lived closer!! Please get involved!!
Stay Safe!
Are these meetings different from the CDAC meetings?
I always go to my meetings, best system in the country,,,,,,, it might not be perfect but it lets you get involved..... I also like the cdac meetings,,,, to me its a chance to be a part of things...to the naysayer, I only have to say, yes at times it might seem like a waste of time, but I have seen actions for the positive....... I really believe that those who ridicule the process, hunt very little spend more time on the computer
Razor - Wish I would have paid attention like, years ago! Once you get involved with it. Yes, pretty interesting stuff.
Some folks are like my friend "Neverbait" - first one's to shoot something down - First one's to complain about it!
Many men and woman, much greater than myself, spend endless hours contributing their personal time, away from family and friends to make this work. I find it terrible that some choose to bad mouth the system and leave it at that. Not happy, work to change it. Get involved. At least make the meeting and voice concerns. Im still waiting for my first phone call.
To those that work for the betterment and within the system - my hat is off to you all - Thank you for your time and effort!!
Ron - The fat lady has not sung on that one yet - it's a wait and see! Have to see what happens!
And that is one experience, just like razor said - who here believes everything that they believe in or vote for.... will turn out the way they want? Anyone? Crickets!!
We have to learn to turn around and either learn to accept it or let it us hamstring us as "positive" "Intelligent" people, to stand on the sidelines, watch and complain! Get busy, getting busy!! Ron - you would be excellent on working on this stuff.
I have used the CC process to make positive change for waterfowl hunting. I have off Monday so after fishing I will attend the hearing.
All I see is everyone bitching and for the most part good guys otherwise. Wether it's WBH, WBHA, or the CC you don't like things step up make change. It all starts with you in any org.
it was thru the CC process, that being able to cut a deer up in the field, finally was allowed,,,,,
I believe that we are the only state that has a system like this. To say that it is useless and your vote means jack just shows how closed minded you are.
You can either be part of the system and voice your opinion or you can sit at home and complain that nothing good every happens from it. That's up to you.
I know where will be tomorrow night...
For those who are blind Wisc fishing n hunting refs are already printed for the year conservation congress is input only fish n wildlife have final say !
Your efforts and votes count. The 50% concealment reg. for hunting with a boat would have never changed with out my efforts and everyone's positive vote.
Interest, efforts, and votes all count. Perhaps the regs for 2017 are already established but don't think for a second that regs for 2018 cannot be influenced. The CC meetings are one of the few opportunities individuals have to voice their opinion. Absent input from us, we lose our voice and influence. The opinions of the public, as diverse as they are, are heard. Maybe not always accepted or considered as we would like, but at least we then have had our chance to be heard. To my way of thinking that's lot better than sitting at home at a keyboard and complaining on a forum about how nobody listens because their minds are already made up. If you want change, work to create it.
Counts, and quit being a stooge.
Masterbait, facts are as foreign to you as is a bath or a deer sighting.
Neverbait Non binding votes? Apparently you have never had to deal with an anti-hunter serving on the conservation congress in your county. Ensuring that wouldn't happen again would be reason enough for me to go to the meetings.
ignore master baiter ......I don't always agree with the CC. But I will be there to vote and so will my wife.
Mike F - +1 I've dealt with the anti's before when they took the sportsmen by surprise for a seat on the CC. Should be a fun drive to Spooner tonight with 2" - 4" of white stuff predicted.
Here is a choice for you woody..... stick your foot in your mouth and chew or just keep talking stupid.
There will be anti's at the one in Stallis tonight.
One of them has a facebook campaign but would refuse to answer a direct question whether she is anti hunting or not. She'll be using some pipeline as her rallying cry.
There will be lots of them and people I suspect from the crane foundation because of the Sandhill crane hunt question.
If you do go please say yes to the scanning resolution for hunting predators at night.
The DNR advisory Council listens to the antis and some of the county blowhards that think they can change rules etc. but in the long run the fish and game management has 99% of the say
I've never been to one, shame on me, but do intend to be at the one in my area this evening. How long are the meetings? Can you just vote for the items and leave or do you have to stay and listen to everyone's opinions?
Listening to the debates can be the most entertaining. Most of the hearings are done by 10:00pm give or take. Unless something changed I'm not aware of you can vote and leave if you like.
In the good ol days some would run till 2:00-3:00am.
We've been able to fill out the voting sheet and leave. I get there early and fill out my voting card, but very seldom have left early. The one thing I have a hard time at these meetings are that just one or two people just love listening to themselves talk - on & on & on & on at every question.
They're only supposed to have 3 minutes.
DT - They get their three minutes, but it's on every question. It does get old listening to them as most of the time they really don't have much to say or have a clue about the question.
We should instate here a 3 reply rule per thread for certain posters here. I think some here are much the same as those you speak of.
Wow that was a lot of "here's"
Anybody going to the one in West Allis?
And there he is. Hook, line, and sinker!
"We should instate here a 3 reply rule per thread for certain posters here. I think some here are much the same as those you speak of. " You placed 7 replies here of almost no value so i agree with your suggestion.
Again woodsdweller you should read over your posts? Really getting tired of your stupidity. Please try harder!
Hope everyone who's interested can make it tonight! Hoping for a good turn out of Ladies as well!
Best of luck too all!!
Pat
I'm ready for my meeting!
I just returned from the Walworth county meeting. The good is that there were no nominations to run against the already seated Conservation Congress not even the one vacant seat. The apparent bad is it appeared to be 2 non sportsman to 1 sportsman. I fill out my ballot and leave before the debate starts so I will see when they post the results in a couple days but I hope it isn't what it appeared all over the state. The non hunting groups just seem to care more and turn out for this stuff especially when you put cranes and doves on the menu.
Back from Washburn County. Low turn out compared to years past.
Lincoln county turn out was low. I'm a new/old delegate again. We had a vacant spot so I filled it. Was on the bear and fur committees years ago before work got in the way. Anyone else a delegate here shoot me a message would like to meet you at the convention.
Waukesha was about the usual number. I saw RC there. He says hi and that he is way too busy making money to play here anymore. He also had a resolution that I hope advances.
Talk to a member of the DNR advisory Council this morning basically said the First Amendment freedom of speech let them have their say for three minutes at the end we set the rules !he stated one of the few groups they listen to our the insurance company's bottom dollar it's about money and revenue
The numbers in Portage County were a little higher in the past . A lot of older couples that voted and left. The crane proposal was quiet. A few resolutions were off the wall. Like automatic landowner bear tags because he felt some bear hunters were not respecting his property and it takes to long to draw a tag. Should be able to just shoot them like in the "olden days".
Was it me or did anyone else notice the over use of the word "Quality" in the fish questions.
Also had a good chuckle over the musky tag too....
Mike I know the musky tag did not go over well..... Our meeting was to PC and sterile, with that I mean, it was so over micro managed, to prevent any arguments, it was plain boring,,,,,, I like the meetings of the old days, ha ha
One guy wrote a resolution to bring back, back tags. I did not support it, but it was well written, and presented.......
The other resolution was on fishing issue, and allowing slot sizes on northerns, on lakes with 40 inch minimum.... well presented and went over well, and this brought younger participants...........
Young lady, attempted to get on the board, she was well spoken, concerned about habitat loss and water quality,,,,,, she did not get in, but got respectable votes,,,, she said later she was nervous and forgot to tell the crowd she was pro trapping and likes to hunt,,,,,,,,
nice to see some younger persons getting involved,,,,,,
but all in all, I miss the days, where it went for hours, and guys argued for hours,,,, those were fun
I had a woman in Milwaukee talk about a documentary called "Leave it to Beaver" and how important beavers were to the ecosystem. She followed that up with she knows a guy called "The Beaver Whisperer", who can communicate with beavers. I almost pissed myself, then realized how awesome it would be if people knew me as The Beaver Whisperer!!!
I attended the Waukesha meeting and was entertained by the young lady that claimed their are too many mice spreading lymes disease as a result of trapping too many small predators. She too ran for a position and I was surprised by how many votes she received. It was an interesting meeting and one I plan on attending from now on.
Reggiezpop- Was that Sara? Youngish girl from RW? I know a lot of people in RW and the eastside are excited because there's been a beaver hanging around the Riverside UEC.
I would've got a good chuckle out of that.
In my opinion the whole nomination and election process is antiquated and is in need of change. Candidates should be required to submit reasons as to why they want the job, and there background info well in advance of the hearing.
Also at the meetings, the candidates names and the spelling of their names, should be posted, so you can read them, when you vote.......
I think that would help,,,,,,, Plus the board members when they speak should use a microphone
Ticks, fleas, flies and other vectors which carry diseases have exploded since DDT, organophosphate, and other fairly potent pesticides have diminished in the ecosystem. This due to EPA and other regulations.
I guess there won't be no Eagles or pests left. Sounds like we're going to get rid of the EPA climate change and global warming it's just fake news!
Tweed- It wasn't Sara, but she ran unsuccessfully, and I made out a few good points she had, but she rambled and was all over the place.
Your wrong Sarah! Mommas right!
I was a bit surprised that anyone can walk up to the microphone as a nominee and present their case in just 3 minutes. Figured the vetting process would be a bit more structured.
Walworth county had one seat left unfilled for the next 2 years unless someone steps up.

The results are in.
Still waiting on the citizen resolutions.
Spring hearings, eh?
Went to the High School … used their wi-fi ...turns out they block bowsite.com because it is a hunting site. More than one of the speakers was on about the lack of hunter recruitment. I didn't bother to note for the crowd that the very educational system whose taxpayer funded public room we were gathered in was part of the issue.
Apparently, whoever is in charge of things there figures exposure to the topic of bow hunting would endanger the chitlins?
Attached is the screen cap from when I tried to log on while at the meeting.
Another good thread. But seriously, the concept that gets bantered around here that if people don't believe in a certain process or organization they should not be entitled to an opinion unless they spend their time and in some cases money joining and supporting it makes little if any sense. Yes I know, join it and "work to change it" is the call from the "look at me do-gooders". LOL. Personally if I think an event or an organization (or many other things) is worthless I will neither waste my time or money on it. And I'm still allowed to have and to state an opinion about it. ;-)
