I was in the woods, recurve out of case and strung up, ready to stroll for the birds at 0550 this morning. I thought I better double check my wallet for my tag. It wasn't there. I know I put it in there the day I got it. Nope. So home I went. Tag was on my dresser. I got out later, did not see or hear a turkey. I still hunted, covered some ground, no antler sheds either. Good news though no one else was in the area.

My son's opening morning turkey in Colorado. It was spot and stalk using the Ultimate Predator Decoy. The decoy worked great, several hens saw my son and did not spook allowing my son to make a good shot.

Congrats guys, love the trad bow kills! We filled one of our youth tags & should have filled both, going back in a couple weeks to get it done. I'm one proud papa! Sorry for the gun on Bowsite, if it helps it's now a 4th generation .410, pretty much the trad bow of the gun world. Ha!

Congrats to you and your son Phill, Nice Tom! We all started some where right, my son would have hunted with his bow but he didn't practice at all before the season, so the shotgun was his only choice if he wanted to hunt.

Missed most of the season dealing with a broken back on March 6th. I just had to get out, so after a couple of short hunts I found a roost tree about 70 yards from the road and sat it out. This tom showed up at 7:00pm on May 13th.

Buglmin, congrats on your long bow merriams. Did you use a blind or natural set up?
From: Buglmin
17-May-17
Natural set up. He was on me so fast me caught me in a very bad situation. I had no cover. I'm loving the Onca Gear ibex camo pattern now...
I usually don't use blinds while chasing merriams. Usually stand in front of trees that way I can move to shoot if he comes in from a different direction then I'm expecting.

Buglmin, that is the ultimate way to get a bird - long bow ala natural! cheers!

Thanks, do it all the time. I usually have time to scout and pattern birds, but with moving and then hunting Texas and shooting ASA shoots, Colorado was put on the back burner this year.
