Cameras that send pictures
Wisconsin

Pondering getting a few cameras that will send pictures to my cell phone. Has anyone had any luck - Good or Bad with any that are out there? Not looking to spend an arm or a leg.
Thanks in advance.
Mike - I've heard pros and cons on all of these cameras. Myself I wouldn't know as I don't have cell service here. I have heard some good things on Coverts though.
Mike, I have been told the biggest problem is animals chewing on the antennas.
I have heard that also. I am headed up this weekend and if I have cell coverage at the baits then I will decide. But then when the leaves come out I might be out of luck too....
Pretty soon you will be able to "hunt" from your comfy recliner too! Remote rifles... yea that's the ticket.... remote rifles... Hmmm on to something.
Mike F, I don't know anything about these cameras but not sure if knowing your phone gets cell coverage or not will mean much depending on the quality of the 'radio' in the camera, the cell technology used, and what cell companies that will recognize it at your locations.
I know that no matter what phone company you go through in parts of Northern Bayfield county or Northern WI in general, there's parts in these areas that you will get no coverage at all. Hoot can attest to that.
Yup, lots of dead spots around Hayward, especially to the north and east.
One time I called 911 about a driver that gently rear ended me at a stop light then passed me so I was followed. Dispatch said to keep them posted and continue to use 911 if we got cut off to get the best coverage as all providers have to honor and hand off those calls. I was AMAZED that I never lost coverage in that area. They eventually got to a road with homes, and a resort but was a dead end so I hung back where the dead end started. (I was packing heat and was not about to risk any sort of encounter.) Deputies arrived shortly but did not find the car, they figured it ducked into a garage. Since there was other old damage to the back of my truck and hard to say if the bump did any new damage we all decided to just brush it off. The plate number we thought it was did not match anything either.
Pasquinell, somebody actually tried to start something like that in Texas. I believe all states quickly put into law that that practice will be outlawed and cannot be used. His business hopes were shot down very fast. Good thing.
You need to becareful about service. In IA my buddy uses Moultries with Verizon for service. They work so good he bought 10 more cameras and modems. You can by one set for about $285 and for $20 (I think) per camera you can receive 10000 pictures per month. So the pricey part is the per cam charge.
10000 pics per month, wow. About the most I have ever seen is around 600 pics across 3 or more months. Usually when numbers are high there has been a lot of wind blowing foliage around.
Thanks for the information. I appreciate it!

With any trail camera wireless field modem along with the wire attachments from camera to modem they will get destroyed if you live in bear country, not just by bears but by those curious raccoons or even squirrels. I cant even leave a tree stand up for any length of time without the seat getting all tore up.
I have three Covert Code black cameras and I like them a lot. I biggest challenge is having cell phone coverage. It fades in and out and somedays works great other days not so much. I seem to spend too much time trying to find a good signal then the best location. I may have five bars on my cell phone and only 2 bars on the camera. In Kansas it worked great but I have had issues with coverage here in Wisconsin.
Ranger, I have Coverts also. Love them. You really should try their booster antennas.
So dose anyone make these cams that could work off of wireless Wi-Fi rather than cell coverage? I have trespassing/theft/vandalism issues on a property and I often get pics on my trail cams of the offenders. Problem is I'm 3 hours away and don't get up as often as I'd like. Would love to get pics emailed to me while there in the act so I could send law enforcement. Zero cell coverage but I could get wireless internet in the cabin.
my brother is considering the Spartan but its a new unit and all these cameras are spendy . Theres already so many issues w/ regular cameras this really seems a stretch but I guess thats why its fun. He's getting it soon so I'll know by the end of the summer and report
I have 5 spartan go cams, 1 covert, and a bushnell cell cams. Imo By far hands down the spartans are the best. I run on a regular set of batteries from july-nov. The pic quality sent to your phone is full resolution so you can actually tell what your looking at. The app for bushnell and the spartans are good. Only downfall with spartans is it takes on average 2 mins to take and send a picture because its sending full resolution. The bushnell and covert are quick within a minute. But pics are so grainy I cant tell bucks apart from each other most of the time. My covert eats the batteries and now im retiring it just not worth the hassle.
Went North this weekend and no cell coverage at any bait site. So I won't be investing in any. I will just have to run the baits as usual.
Northbound, I sent you a PM
I was told that cuddeback came out with one that sends pictures to one camera on your property. I believe the system will handle up to 16 cameras on 1 home camera where you can take the card out and have pictures from all the cameras on your property. No cell service plans or monthly charges
Buckeyecam has worked flawlessly for four years, 365 days per year, even in 20 below winters.
Booner...if that's true, that would be great.
