Woke up at 4:30am. First thought, I should bail... Second thought, this better be worth it! My brother picks me up at 4:45am and were off to the woods. As soon as there was enough light to see the field I could see a Tom bird strutting his stuff across the field. Brother John started to work the slat and this big Tom came to our decoys on a line. At about 20 yards I let the 1187 ring out! My first turkey hunt and I had a bird on the ground in the first 15 minutes! 11 inch beard and 1 inch spurs! We had turkeys around us all morning but couldn't get the other Tom to leave his Hens. I now see why my brother has been trying to get me to join in on the excitement for years! Next time I'm bringing the bow!
