Unit 62

A few years ago I was invited on an elk hunt in Unit 62, not far from Montrose. This was my first elk hunt and I really want to go back next year. I had gone with a group that is a group of older men that do not want to go back anymore (health issues). My question is how is the herd on 62? Or would I be better at another unit. I know it is a big unit, and mainly looking for info around the Montrose area.

Nothing wrong with 62. It is one of, if not the most heavily hunted unit in the state, but there are lots of elk and it's a very big unit. If you had fun and know a little bit about the unit why not go back. The herd there is in as good of shape as anywhere as far as I know. Good luck

Thanks, there were a lot of other hunters, but most of the guys that were hunting the area we were had all been hunting together for years. All the different groups really helped each other out. Hopefully everything works out to where I can go back next year.
