Only been out once so far. Got up at 6:30, in the woods at 7. Missed a bird at 7:45 or so.

One place where I hunt the walk is literally 5 minutes to owl call and another 5 minutes to get to a point to set up, so I leave my house at 4am, get a coffee and I'm parked by 5:10am and out of the truck shortly after waiting for the light to appear.
The other place I like for turkeys is a 30-40 minute walk so back everything up about 45 minutes. I love being early, hate being late. I sometimes fall asleep in my truck waiting for the right time to leave.

5 AM or earlier depending on the time needed to walk in. Sometimes I do late morning hunts and don't go out until after 8. It's nice not getting up at zero dark 100 but you miss those birds gobbling on the roost which is always the best way to locate them and set up.

Woodnut - but oh that's the fun of turkey hunting. Longbeard called it ridge running and I love that about this type of hunting. I've taken off for a 500 yard dash in low light, tripping and falling over rocks and sticks, stopped and heard a bird from where I just came! Now that's fun! @#$$#%^ birds!

I'm a run and gun hunter. No need for blinds as woods are big and they don't roost in same spots.
