Oh, it's just been a barrel of friggen' monkeys for resident hunters since '94.

You know, the next time a NR has a licensing question about Kansas, maybe they should post it on the Louisiana page. Thousands of them come up to kill our deer. Oh......wait....they don't bother to buy..... :-)

Hopefully they send us NR's 2 buck tags again this year. It was really nice to have a bonus extended season last year. NR's were able to shoot the first 1.5 year old buck that walked by and then concentrate on shooting a big-un :).

Getting ready to go out in 2 weeks to start filling corn in the feeders. We got 4 more new feeders to add to the 10 we already have on our leases. Should pull the big bucks in from miles away with the amount of does we're keeping on the property. In addition to the land we were able to talk a landowner into pulling from WIHA last year, this year we were able to lease another 2 sections. Landowner said they were sick and tired of the locals hunting for nothing, leaving gates open, leaving trash and driving through their crop fields. He even said he'd sell us sour corn from his bins at $1/bushel.

Season can't get here soon enough. Good luck in the draws.

"As it turns out, seven of the state's 18 management units will offer non-resident tags. Two of those, however, will issue only antlerless permits to non-residents."

What I read for the 1994 passage .... I know I applied and drew in fall 1999 so maybe the unit i was applying for was one that had just opened or ??

Anyway yes, 1994 it was, I didn't know that.

From: z hunter
08-May-17
Last yr was the 1st time the total number of nr applicants exceeded the overall tag quota. There were 12561 nr archery tags, that includes youth and mule deer. With 9255 ml/firearm tags..it used to be the other way..say hello to the xgunner who is now coming to ks.. It will be interesting,..imo, archery tags will go up a few hundred more.. The state is already considering reducing archery opportunities...well, so they said..i doubt the legislature allows them to lower tag quota for whitetail.. They are so kindly reducing resident opportunity for mule deer..but no change to nr hunters..not yet anyway..

They're saying the end of May, hoping people will quit calling. They lose thousands of $$$$ is staff time every year, answering the phone, taking calls from impatient non-residents.

Whew, thanks for helping out there, Stealthy... Don't know what us poor resident idiots who've been here for 8 generations, 150 years, remember where we were the day non-resident deer hunting passed the legislature, wrote about the entire process and have written a few thousands articles about the Kansas outdoors, would do without non-residents who come to Kansas a week or two a year keeping us educated.

"just having some fun with you guys. Geez."

Gets sort of frustrating reading all the negative comments about NR Hunters. Notwithstanding the fact that NR's bring hundreds of millions in revenue to the State of Kansas, all NR hunters I know abide by all game laws.

Here you go, Extreme Whitetail -- About 30 non-resident hunters and could have been 60 or more but there were problems with statute of limitations, and wardens focusing on the most egregious of the bunch. Largest trophy deer poaching ring in the nation, at least at the time. All from two states.

I've also done stories on groups from Michigan, Minnesota and Tennessee getting caught with some of the most infamous poaching cases in the nation, for that year. Of course that's the minority, like poachers are within residents, but spare me the "we're saints and all y'all are sinners" line, please. And sure you bring in millions, but how many thousands of hours of quality experience are Kansas residents out because of all the leasing and outfitting? Sure, it's the landowner choice. (Save the defensiveness, Turk) and I've hunted or fished in 26 states. Oh, and in the early 90s I helped push for limited non-resident deer hunting so Kansas didn't eventually lose out on some important federal funds. Sure caught hell from some residents. Not the first "thank you" from a non-resident. :-)

Article was written in 2011. Butler got over 3 years jail time and 3 years supervised probation. Assuming his jail time served was really in the neighborhood of about 2 yrs. due to "good time" and he didn't violate his 3 years of supervised probation he should of been clear of all this sometime last year 2016?

Wonder if he is again operating a guide/outfitting biz in KS? If so, I hope they are tailing him from state line to state line.

"Hundreds of millions"? I think we're getting a little extreme there Extreme... good grief. Believe it or not, not every nr hunter is spending $5000 to hunt here.

11-May-17
I don't spend $5,000.00 to hunt either but when you add in NR Tags and license, rental truck, airline tickets, lodging , meals , Cabela's and all the other money spent it's pretty darn close. Looking to buy my own farm out there soon. It's just pretty funny reading all the posts how NR are ruining deer hunting in Kansas. I don't think that is the case at all.

From: keepemsharp

There are many here that can attest to the erosion of the hunting experience in the last 20 years and it's all because of scoring antlers and big money corruption.

11-May-17
I get what you guys are saying. Nothing and I mean nothing is the way it was 20-30 years ago. I see all the same posts on the Georgia Forums slamming Florida hunters about driving up lease prices, baiting, trespassing and blah, blah , blah....I go fish Florida waters every year and our family enjoys their beaches so why would I complain when they want to enjoy deer hunting in Georgia. A coca cola used to be a nickel and people used to let you hunt for free. Not so any longer. I just work harder so I can afford more to enjoy my hobbies. Good Luck and Happy Hunting to all of you .

I would venture to guess the waters in Florida were not leased either... I applaud you investing in land here, as a matter of fact, it's about to be a buyers market, gas and oil guys are selling like crazy in Montgomery and Chautauqua counties, they can't afford their luxuries with the price of oil per barrel. One thing I'd recommend, if you do buy land you better get to know a neighbor real well, or all of those dishonest residents will be on your land like ticks on a poodle when you're gone.

12-May-17
Haha I may have to move there but I do know the neighbors quite well.

From: Thornton
14-May-17
Whitetail- You must not know many NR hunters. In the 4 years I guided, a large percentage of the hunters that showed up tried to convince me to let them do something illegal. One outfitter I worked for bought up all the transferable tags he could and leased ranches 100 miles away in different units to put hunters on. Had a Florida guy argue with me while he was in the stand because he wanted to shoot a "cull" buck and keep hunting. Had a magazine writer show up to hunt turkeys. While I was showing him the layout of the ranch, he sped up and promptly wounded a turkey next to the roaD out his truck window with a 12 gauge. I put another Arkansas guy on a nice 140" buck and he missed it 3 times at 100 yds. Before he left, he stole a really nice climber. After 4 years of this and landowners wanting more money, I quit when I got accepted into a college program. Best decision I ever made. It is a greed driven sport and many of the locals I know will now decline money because they know how you NR operate. I've gotten a few of my old permissions back, bought 2 places for my own, and all is well in the world.

14-May-17
Scooby you talk as if you have been hunting here for as long as I have, since the 70's!!!!!!!!!!!

Thornton you are right. I don't like to hunt with many people so it's just me and a friend . I know how we hunt and we respect the property of our friends/landowner. I didn't know there were "transferable tags". The "magazine writer" must have been a non-ethical person with no morals and I avoid people like that. Why would you not report that to the local authorities ? I would never steal anything and it would be hard to fly home with a nice climber. Where I hunt in Kansas I've never seen a tree you could hang a climber on. Most everything now is driven by greed and please don't lump me in with the "NR" you refer to. I have been fortunate to be "taken" in by a few local family's that are more than happy to see me and allow me to hunt their farms. Not all NR hunters are bad .

I disagree respectively there Forrest. Hunted Elk every year there since I was out of High School 20+ years ago. I have lived in Kansas all my life and why we do not have the massive numbers we also don't have the the massive amount of public, hard to get to places like Colorado has. Thus the good public spots are often easily over ran and somewhat crowded. Ran into one other hunter all Elk Season only a Mile or so back. Now if you cruise the roads yes you will see others but at about a mile most boot tracks disappear.

16-May-17
I thought that Colorado had over 35% of its land open to public hunting where as Kansas was less than 10%. That changes the game. Correct me if I am wrong Forest!!!!! Also Forest, do you think we get very many out of state pheasant hunters?????? We might know a little about hunting pressure.

Jeff, only 3 times but I have been lucky each year. I do think it sucks for the residents as everywhere ya turn, mags, TV, the net everyone says it is where ya gotta go for big whitetails. I will be back next year as I bought a point. I am gonna go ruin Nebraska, South Dakota this year!! Shawn

Want numbers of non-res hunters?Check out SoDak pheasant hunters.Come from all over the world and at some airports are treated like war heroes with free shells, hats etc.Do some resident hunters suffer?Of course.Here,there,everywhere.Same deal, same arguments, same futility. Rationalize it as good for huntings future? You know,we need more hunters etc.Not true IMO but reality suggests suck it up and move on guys.

From: leftee
17-May-17
Westks not sure what 'data' U are looking for or if you're asking me but if so and memory serves,SD sells about 100,000 non res pheasant licenses annually as opposed to about 70,000 res licenses. Plus non-residents can,and many do,buy a second or more license for additional 5day periods. Those are pheasant only and don't include deer.

250,000 non-res hunt elk in CO ? I'm not sure that's accurate ...

I found this

The combined number of big game and small game hunting licenses sold in fiscal 2011-12 was: resident 489,327 and nonresident 86,493. The state doesn’t break down big game vs. small game, but the vast majority of nonresident license sales are big game.

I only hunt 2 units Jeff. I don't see any pressure where I hunt. I'm sure that what your use to it seems like alot. Your state lacks money to manage the land and deer already so y'all are kind of stuck. Growing up in Colorado and hunting public I'm use to seeing lots of hunters so when I hunt Kansas I love not ever seeing anyone. I don't hunt public in fact I lease a bunch of land. I all so love to get kids involved in hunting. I do see how guys leasing land could take opportunity away from kids...... I have been thinking and if you guys know of a couple kids I would like to host them for youth week. Would love to have kids who got there spot taken because of out of state guys leasing land.

Nice work. Thanks for saving the "draw date" thread.

I look forward to the draw date for the same reason as you..... So our friends and our kids have the opportunity to hunt deer in KS. Yes, it's a privilege, same as a NR hunting Elk here in CO.

I'm excited for the NR draw date just as many. I also can't wait to find out if my 10 year old daughter drew her first deer tag.

Hope you guys chase some big bucks this fall.

There are pockets of public land in Kansas that does not get pressure, but i agree with Matt and others that for the most part depending when you hunt, there is a lot of pressure on public. Go early season and you may not have much, but go from late Oct til Thanksgiving and there is plenty of folks hunting. I also agree that with 87 thousand NR's buying licenses in Colorado cannot be compared to Kansas as acre per acre Colorado has much more public land. Hell where I hunt in Kansas I see as many Colorado plates as I do Kansas plates out hunting. Shawn

Shot my biggest on public. Took me ten years to figure out how to even see big bucks on the public 15 minutes from my house. Agreed it is hunted very hard and most wont even try it. A really high success rate for OTC bull in CO is only 30%. Most units have a much lower success rate than that. I always see lots of elk in CO when I go. so far I'm 4 bulls for 5 or 6 hunts. CO has many times more public land than KS and most elk hunters go home empty handed.

Yup, still live in NY at least for 3 more years. We have lots of public land. Come hunt here. I would welcome you! The Adirondack park has 3 million acres ya can hunt. You may hunt it 10 years before you even see a 130" buck but most likely a lot longer. I hunt public in Kansas and private. I have been lucky maybe as I have have seen several bucks well over 140"s on public and I am not ashamed to admit I blew it on 2 of them. One an 8pt. over 155"s. I think it has a lot to do with how hard ya want to work for a good buck. If you do the work and the scouting, even on public in Kansas ya have a chance. The way I see a lot of NR's hunting in Kansas I would not worry about them killing big deer if I was a resident. Hell most shoot the first 120 that walks by as that is a bug buck for them. Shawn

Why do why have to score bucks? 120, 130, 140, 155, etc. They are always smaller than what people project by 20 inches and less than 10% of hunters ever have them officially scored anyway. So it is really meaningless. All scoring has done is commercialized hunting. When I began hunting there was no such thing as scoring only counting.

Scooby how in the hell do you know that deer was over 155 inches and why would we believe you!!!! There is only one way to know and this is to kill it and have officially measured. Otherwise it is just a "Fish Story"!!!!!!!!!!! Why not say you blew it on a nice mature deer, then I would put more stock in it.

Things will not stop changing, some for the good and some for the bad. Some of that depends on perspective. But we just like the deer if we wish to survive have to adjust to the changes. OK, I'm done preaching know. I happy my 10 year old grandson will have a chance to harvest a deer the land I shot rabbits on when I was his age.

Clipper, it is good ol' common sense. Parents know more about what their kids can and can't do than the government. Boys like a young Cowboy and my kids, had been around more guns, safe gun handling and hunting than 95% of the 16 year-olds when they were 10 or 12. Wonder how many thousands of .22 rounds the three of you had shot by the time you were 14, Cowboy? I had to take our son to TX one year, and NM the next so he could hunt turkeys because then the minimum age in Kansas was 12. He had the brains and physical coordination to excel at martial arts, score a 23 on the ACT (did better in high school), but couldn't hunt turkeys with his dad? I had to take our daughter to TX to hunt deer when she was 13, because she was too young to hunt in Kansas. With girls, especially, if you don't get them hooked by the time they're about 12 or 13 the odds of getting them into hunting and shooting drop, a lot. Never, ever, made since that a kid could hunt quail, possibly our most dangerous type of hunting, but not be able to hunt deer or turkeys with a parent sitting right there with them. Hope you're there with your grandson when he makes it happen, Fox. Great memories for all of you.

I can hardly wait for this november..shooting quail on the walk to my stand..smoking a yote from long range with my 300wm about 3pm,...still plenty of time for mr buck to move...and i got my self defense handgun....just in case.

To those who received an email, it is only an acknowledgement that the drawing took place. Results not out until next week and that is why you can't find the link for drawing status. This is per a phone call I just made to Kansas

I know people who have seen an online verification that they drew the tag, it also shows which units they drew from their 4 choices.

Their tags are showing up under their kdwpt# which lists their privledges, as well as it allows them an option to purchase a replacement tag,..which is further verification of a successful draw.

Zcorn - I declined an offer x2 by Wes, owner of AE to manage two ranches, one near Pittsburg, KS "10,000 acres" and one near Ft. Collins, CO- 20,000 acres to go to college. There was no "belly up" but rather a very conscious decision to amount to something in life. Judging by your hysteria of acquiring another hunter, I suspect the outfitting business for you is not all its cracked up to be. While you are swatting flies hunting early season because your hunters will be hunting the prime rut, I suspect I'll be in some 3000 acre pasture in NM trying to topple a goat at 600 yds, or in the mountains of CO, drinking it all in.

Our group was fortunate enough to draw again this year. This will be my 6th year in a row. Still looking for that first buck. I have a blast every year regardless. We usually bring up a cooler or two of some of our local seafood and cuisine to show our gratitude to folks who have helped us over the years. We only hunt public but have developed great friendships with some of the local farmers. Who knows, maybe we can convince a few more people each year that there are some ethical and grateful La hunters.

26-May-17

From: Doe
26-May-17
nope. Officially scored here in PA. Will be in the next edition, and even if it was a 3 year old it is the biggest deer I've ever killed. In the process of mounting it right now.

26-May-17
If your happy with it that's all that matters. But this is why I get frustrated having hunted here for 35 years. A deer needs to reach at least 5 for maturity.

From: Doe
26-May-17
agree with that. but being it is my biggest ever i took the shot. Not over bait, no crossbow. This year I will only shoot one bigger if the opportunity comes along. I shoot no less than 20 a year here in Pa and NJ with my bow so a dink in Kansas is pointless for me

Maybe not place to begin this debate, but I've seen many bucks over 5.5 years old that would score less than 140". We had pics of the same buck on our farm from 2009-2014 for example. Assuming he was 2.5 in 2009 he would have been 6.5 in 2014. My wife passed him thinking he was a younger deer, he was not big bodied. After reviewing her video footage for a bit after her hunt, it was clear she'd passed "Crabby" a 6.5 year old buck we'd been targeting for two years. He would have been lucky to reach mid 130s.

From: Creedxs
26-May-17
z hunter I did decide to hunt KS and I got conformation Wednesday night that I got drawn.

26-May-17
KSQ no doubt you are correct. Some deer genetically just won't score well regardless of age. But if 3 year old bucks are the norm with the liberal amount of tags available in this state, the age structure just won't let us produce the big deer we once had. I shot a 5.5 year old buck in 2014 that won't score much over 140. But he was a stud in the woods with heavy mass but only a 3x4.

26-May-17
Frank I can not make heads or tails of your posts. You do what you want. To have both quality and quantity of big deer, you have to let young deer grow old. We used to have that with a limited draw system for residents. I am no expert on how Oklahoma manages their deer herd nor do I care. But I do know how Kansas is managed and how the deer hunting has changed since I began wondering through the woods in the 70's. Deer had the opportunity to die of old age back then and it was easy to see a dozen mature deer in a season. Residents had to go through a draw system. The draw system for non residents now is very liberal compared to the draw system we had for residents prior to 1995.

From: lk2bowhnt

Mang a deer herd that sounds like cattle there fricken wild you cant manage them they get hit by cars die of old age all kinds of stuff i bird hunted for years in ks know and met a lot of res people and i promise you more deer are kilked illeagly by res than non res and that dosent bother me they eat the damn things there deer you act like they are indangered i dont poach but you tags are so high i draw im killen they are deer no more than a cyote. Coon hog rabbit they are just worth al lot of fricken money botton line its about money do you even eat the things thats really the only reason i kill one is to eat. Comanche County was the heart of Operation Cimarron, probably the most blatant trophy buck poaching ring in history. This is the FIRST time I've been on the "Kansas Exclusive" portion of this forum... All I can say is WOW! I realize in yalls mind all Texans are the devil. And, I would tend to agree with ya...if ALL Texans were as you portray them! Myself and all the guys in my huntin circle don't hunt over feeders/bait, hunt natural travel routes/food, sweat our butts off hangin stands gettin ready in August when it's 102 deg, fighting skeeters and cottonmouths along the way. So, I guess what I'm basically saying is there are actually a few "hunters" in Texas, that do it the old fashioned way. I killed my first deer with a bow in 1983, and have only hunted with a bow since... The last 10 with my longbow. But on the same hand, if somebody wants to hunt over bait, get after it, just ain't my thing. I think part of the irony in it, is there have been NR hunters in Texas waaay longer than there has been in Kansas. Heck, I can stop at the gas station up the road from my house on any Friday during spring/summer and see 7-8 or more out of state (Kansas included) plates on trucks and boats headed fishing at Lake Fork. Not saying a feller has to like NR coming in on his turf, but, I reckon ya have to live with it. I was wanting to try a NR DIY on public land, but now I figure if I was parked with Texas plates, I'll come back to my truck with a knife in my tire. :) My main point on this whole ramble is this; don't make Texas hunters ALL out to be unethical, lazy, corn-pile huntin, spotlighting, poaching, scoundrels... When they ain't. There are Texas guys that are pieces of crap just like I figure there are Kansas guys that are as well. Getting any pre-conceived notions about a whole state of hunters based on ones own personal experiences usually ain't the right answer I don't figure. Bout the only pre-conceived ideas I have bout Kansans is they love their Jayhawks, and they farm a lot of land. Good Huntin, and God Bless, Rusty

Even though we're a bunch of dumb clods, we pretty well know Texans are like lawyers - those 90 percent sure give those other 10 percent a bad name! :-) Jason, Kyle, me...we've hunted public and private in other states, and helped a lot more non-residents hunt in Kansas than we've been helped in other states. But your comment about "they love their Jayhawks" shows how unfamiliar you are with the state. Only the most intelligent Kansans love Jayhawks. Some swear by their Shockers or Wildcats.

Leftee, yep, you get trespassed on, like every other nr landowner of ANY state, most just expect it and live with it. I wouldn't put up with it, and that's why I'll never own land I don't live near. Our land is 14 miles from us, and we still get trespassed on occasionally. Have you ever read Robin Hood?

From: writer
01-Jun-17
Our main problem with trespassers are people relatives give permission to hunt our farm, which they have no right to do. Also have joggers come over from a nearby state park on one property. Pretty sure one pissed herself when I yelled at her, when she was right underneath the bur oak where I was trying to get a 13 year old his first bowkill. I'm just sure she had to be from Texas.... :-)

01-Jun-17
Ksq, Sadly I agree. If U live in a State and place worth hunting, you'll have trespassers-both foreign and domestic.Put up 27K worth of fences on my SoDak place to help prevent it.Problems with locals and non-res's.Pheasant road hunters the worst by far but deer and waterfowlers close behind. No State is immune from these problems and all have hunters who go elsewhere and become problems-seem to recall a few years ago even a former Miss Kansas violated in Alaska.

Thornton, I ain't sure we invented the night-huntin, NR hunting and fishing, or whatever the list "goes on and on" is. But, I'm pretty sure you may be right on the box blind and feeder thing! I dont like em either! And writer, c'mon man, there ain't one thing I said that read Kansas folks are dumb clods. And your percentage analogy may be a little off, then again, maybe not! :) I cant speak for all the Texas folks. You are spot on in that I am unfamiliar with Kansas, I am sure you have your Wichita St. and K-State fans. In all fairness, there may be the possibility that you may not be familiar with Texas people as a whole either. Don't get me wrong, there are some definate idiots here, just like I'm sure there are everywhere. And I have yet to not help someone who needed help in finding a spot to hunt around here, be it resident or NR. If you were raised right, to respect others, the land you hunt on, and the people it belongs to, whether a landowner or a state, it really doesn't matter where we come from. Hope there ain't no hard feelings. Good Huntin, and God Bless, Rusty

From what I hear, Former President Nixon used to go to a ranch in TX and shoot deer at night from a tower with spot lights. I agree Miss KS got a bad deal. Funny thing is leftee, your state of SD ALLOWS ROAD HUNTING for birds whether you agree with it or not. I keenly remember walking a ditch in pace some yuppies out in their prime, uncut, milo field. When they stopped walking, we stopped. We were shooting all the birds that ran into the ditch and there was nothing they could do about it but drive their trucks over and stare at us.

Not yet, Kyle, but trying to make sense out of some of these posts sure make me crave a few dozen cold ones. Sometimes going to Bowsite is like going to the State Fair -- a danged good way to help one's self-esteem.

Partaking of the spirit water only seems to lead to more confusion... For me anyway! And reading some of these posts, the last thing I would want would be a cloudy mind. Although it may help on the interpretation of some of em, if you were like-minded... So to speak. :) Good Huntin, and God Bless, Rusty

Hahahahaha Kansas douche bags killed 3 bucks last year and going to kill at LEAST 2 this year. This year the tags came out of Texas of all places....suck it bitches I lease 3000 acres and I am going to kill multiple bucks. NOTHING you can do about it.

Shawn is from NY as well. What a dip shit. I hope you guys do not think most people from NY are like him. What an embarrassment!

Thornton of all the Kansas posters I have always thought you were the most challenged. I imagine with a name like Thornton your of English descent so breeding with your cousins was a common occurrence. Don't get me wrong I don't blame you for taking advantage of a walk out in the pasture with your first cousin and something happening out there. After all she was the only one for many miles. But I think in your case your about one chromosome away from being mentally retarded. I sure hope your first cousin is not in town tonight.

Forest- I suppose you are talking about the idiots I've referred to as the "squatters" since 1999? I noticed on Facebook they seem to be very chummy with you and your son. Probably just to get free hog hunts is my guess. I've been hunting that property since 1994 and your buddies decided to move all their feeders and stands onto the few ravines there are in about 1999. They have worn roads into the pasture to fill their feeders, thus, educating the deer. There are hardly any trees there, so when you scare a deer, they often run for more than a mile. Your buddy turned me in for no orange because I took it off with my coat to drag a doe out of a ravine after the hunt was over. Very hypocritical for a moron who I've seen running those draws on his 4 wheeler with no orange on himself during rifle season. Names are just that. I have no poaching charges unlike your best friends who you think so highly of, the friends that use you for a place to hunt, the friends who were defendents in Operation Cimmarron-the biggest poaching bust in KS history. Ask your friends why they can't hunt the 160 acres on Tadpole Creek south of Eureka anymore. My friend, who manages the property kicked them off because they were told not to hunt there anymore and they kept coming back.

Turned you in for driving your truck across the grass and shooting out of it with a rifle in archery season is the story more than one guys has told me. Funny the guys you all call poachers don't have any charges against them either. They were all dropped...... Just like you. But because they are from another state they are scum of the earth..

From: Thornton

My friends were charged with Hunting/taking game in the wrong unit. They had a tag they shot one deer a year and went home. The guide they hired would take them in the morning to the stand and pick them up at night. The guide was crossing the unit line and my friends had no idea. Now a lot of bad things were happing in that camp but not all who hunted there knew. I have posted this before and you guys still don't believe it. Just like I don't believe you weren't shooting out of your truck. Fair is fair right

06-Jun-17
If they have to be driven to a stand and picked up each night are they really hunters? Hiring someone to do all the prep work is not hunting. They are commercialized shooters at the mercy of their pimp!

They are buy far some of the best bowhunters I Know. One almost has his 29 the other guy his killed more big whitetails than anyone I know. But because they hunted with a POS guide they are worthless scum. Funny because all the places I've been Kansas residents are buy far most likely to break game laws and yet so quick to hang a guy for less........ Some great people in Kansas not to many post on this site! I'm out!

06-Jun-17
Good bye Forest! My point is if you consider them hunters then don't put the blame on their guide. If they are hunting then the responsibility lies with them. Is a high fence set-up hunting? It may be to some but not me. Is driving the roads and shooting from a vehicle hunting? It may be to some but not to me. Everyones definition is different. 29 deer? Scooby has killed over a hundred with traditional equipment!

I find it hard to believe everyone has such a hard time with Non-residents. I have never done anything illegal anywhere, let alone Kansas. I should say when it comes to hunting that is. Again good luck to all hunting Kansas this year. I will be back next year! Shawn

I re-read your accusations and realized just how far off they are. For one, it was the last day, the last hour of rifle season. Two, your idiot friend was not wearing orange at all because I glassed his stand area before driving across that mile of pasture. Three, he could not see me shoot the doe, because there is a huge hill in the way, and like I said, I was about a mile from him. Four, he did not hear me shoot either because there was a 20+ mph north wind that evening and it was less than 20 degrees and I used a suppressor on my .308 to kill the doe. Five, he freaked out, thinking I was a poacher and led the warden to believe so. The warden freaked out and nearly shat himself when he found out I was indeed using a suppressor ( I am licensed by the ATF for 3 of them.) The warden burnt up valuable time when he could have been doing something worthwhile like looking for the girl that froze to death that evening 4 miles away. I remember her well because I took care of her in the ER the week before. My only mistake of the entire evening was admitting to the warden I took off my orange to haul the doe out. It has been pointed out by several on here that action was not illegal at all because the hunt was over. Rather than retain a lawyer for $1500 and beat it in court, I simply paid the $150 ticket and forgot about it like all the other nickel and dime tickets I've gotten in my life. Very irritating to listen to you run your mouth when you actually hunt with poachers. If you didn't act like some whitewashed person, nobody would care.

From: sitO
06-Jun-17
Hey I fell asleep guys...do you need me for anything?

One'a them there poachers made the same "simple mistake" 5yrs in a row as I remember (his words)...so is it still a "mistake"?

One apologized and I respect that, his "buddy" dragged him in, that stuff can happen in this real world.
