Got out of the blind. I walk about 300 yds away and call while walking back to the blind tying to draw them in. I just walked straight into a hen at 20 yds. She saw me I saw her and we both ran in opposite directions

That was great play by play drslyr! Thanks for sharing. I went out with my buddy and I was able to work a wise gobbler to within 30 yrds of him and boom he missed!!! We hunted all day and other than that we had very little action in a area that was on fire 2 days ago...

Great play-by-play! Nice set-up. Did you pitch your blind near a road?

From: drslyr

Yes right on an abandoned rd. that the turkeys walk right down. There were scratchings in the oak leaves all the way down this road. It was hard to decide where to setup. The turkeys did the same thing last yr. I'm having a terrible yr. here in the western part of the state. The birds are disappearing. I have a field nearby where we had around 75 to 100 birds in in the winter yrs ago. That same field today is lucky to have 1 or 2 birds with no major changes like land development etc. Many friends saying the same thing "What happened to the turkeys"? Same for deer. The animals are dissapearing.

Drslyr I'm glad I'm not the only one who is seeing this. What is killing off the turkeys? I know we have a good number of bobcats but it is probably lack of habitat like our deer herd.
