You all should be proud

I want to commend all of you for your diligent participation on keeping it clean. There certainly might be less interaction (part of the season of course), but I want to point out that the interaction has been healthy. I hope we can continue to keep it this way, as the season changes toward our real passions, or when a new hot topic hits the news.
Avoiding those negative people is going to get much tougher, because they will stoop to new levels. They are dying to be heard so badly, that they will throw some low punches that may be quite challenging not to reply to. I promise you that if we stay on point, we will rid ourselves of those players. Of course they will be replaced with new faces, new names, new aliases, but if we keep in mind that they are but a ghost, they will have zero impact on our great page we have here.
So, do as you are doing, and keep avoiding the viruses. I'm quite proud of how we are doing so far. It proves that 99.9% of the intellect level on here is above the standard 8th grade mentality that we often see on other forums, and I'll take it a step further, and say we are all acting very much like the adults we are.
What will happen, is those lurkers that have good questions, good input, good arguments etc. will join the party, and soon, this place will be hopping again. A place for people to visit because it has enjoyable topics, that can be discussed with civility, instead of a mockery because we allowed childish behavior to infect our minds and spirit. Of course that doesn't mean we have to agree on everything, but if we can listen more, and talk less, perhaps we can learn something from the opposition. This is something our current government could learn to do, and perhaps we'd get something done besides the constant undoing that each party wants to do to the other?
Just wanted to say thanks, and have a great day!
Pete-pec X 2!
And I might add to "Of course that doesn't mean we have to agree on everything...", that disagreement is healthy and expected. And even beneficial as long as it is done with respect and "civility", then it becomes a learning tool and a vehicle by which we all grow. At the very least disagreement can dissolve to the level of saying, "We can agree to disagree." But it can also travel the high road and lead to a position of new information, improved understanding and, who knows, maybe even a new forum friend.
Well said and...Thank you!
You need to get on the Bowsite payroll Pete! It would be great if you were a mod with ban capabilities. You've been a good leader here.
Case & Pete - Great posts. Thank you!
It has been rather nice lately
I wish there was a "Like" button here. Great posts and it has been nice and civil here lately. I have learned to back away from the keyboard if I get upset with a post and even to not respond to certain individuals that just stir the pot. We can agree to disagree and behave with respect to others. Keeping an open mind and listen to others is good too.
To stay clean, avoid discussions on baiting vs plotting, ethics of various shots, baiting deer vs bear, and of course the new acceptance and use of crossbows by the majority of those hunting during the archery season. The problem source is generally the controversial topics of discussion.
Sawtooth, I respectfully disagree. I don't think we need to nessesarily avoid topics of contention. We simply need to remain respectful when sharing our opinions on said topic and open minded when reading the opinions of those that differ from ours.
Let's see how it goes in the future.
Now let's make sure we only talk about thing's everyone agrees on . No 1st amendment on the Wisc. forum anymore . LOL
Well said and thanks for facilitating the discussion Pete. The only thing I might disagree on is we're not dealing with viruses. It's more like cancer. Now might be sort of in remission, but it will return. Some of us have been here many years. Unfortunately, we've even lost some of the good participants. This current healthier status will take continued treatment. So, we all will need to continue to work hard (as has been done as of late.) I say keep up the good and hard work everyone. And let's keep this going.
I think we have a relative understanding that we really don't want to be treated poorly, we don't want to treat others poorly, We won't agree on everything, and we shouldn't. If we want to have good discussion, we need to have topics that might flare the nostrils. Name calling, baiting, and close-mindedness is what gets in the way of good discussion. We need to be willing to understand that we are not all wired the same, and when we disagree with someone's point of view, give feedback that uses good logic, good science, and be respectful. It isn't hard. If someone is a constant pot-stirrer, and adds nothing but uneducated opinion and drivel, simply avoid them. Pretend they are not there. Skim over their posts. You have to understand that because we are wired so differently, there are going to be a few odd ducks who fall outside of the curve. Nothing is going to get through to them. Not reasoning, not science, and not debate. So basically, you're wasting your time trying to convince them they are wrong. Best answer, is roll on by those people, and learn to interact with those people who certainly won't see eye to eye with you, but will at least keep it clean.
Speaking from experience, I'm a stubborn man. When I feel I've cracked the code, it's hard for me to listen to what someone else has to say. I have to remind myself to shut my mouth, and listen. When I do, I find myself learning something. If their formula makes more logical sense, I embrace it....until some other genius gives me something greater to chew on.
Like Sawtooth said, let's see how it goes in the future? Perhaps if we kindly remind each other that it isn't worth it when we digress, it could BE the future? Like Novice points out, it takes all of us to keep this forum in remission.
So who's looking past this spring and summer like I am? 21 days straight in the tree starting at the end of October is some good therapy. Until then, a couple weeks left of turkey, a lot of fishing of course, yard work...yuck, and some family time!
I might not have many summer's left don't rush it . LOL Only deer I'm thinking about is made of foam . Sorry Pete but I hope it's a long one .
I completely understand swampy. For your sake, I hope this summer lasts an eon. Time is certainly our number one regret (to spend more of it with family) and our greatest wish (we had more of it) as we reach our waning years.
great job being to hall monitor pete. It is much more pleasant to read through the threads without all the b.s.
