580 this morning. Anyone have a guess as to how long the preference point page will take to post back up so I can see whether I took a 1st or 2nd choice? Lol, chomping at that bit, the 31st for official results seems like an eternity.. 8 whole days hah. Good luck everyone

Never mind, I'm guessing since my deer points aren't back up, and that drawing was two weeks ago, that official results will post before points go back up....just wait and see I guess!

With what the Colorado Commission as well as outfitters are pushing to get shoved through it is a fact that less residents will be seeing 500 codes in the future.
Wake up residents if you like to see 500 codes time to get involved or it will soon be too late..

Got 500 numbers for both my son and myself. I should have drawn 1st choice and my son probably drew his second choice. Hopefully they put up the units soon.

Actually BigHorn the way I read it 15/17 drew in 16' with 20 pts. I thought it would be a slam dunk. Apparently a bunch of guys who in 16' put in for the new early rifle figured out there wasn't a chance for them to draw it so they moved to regular first season & jacked it all up!

I am doubtful. the backdoor never says what tag you drew....only shows a 400 code if you didn't or a 500 code if you did draw.
Never heard of an 055 code........should be 580

Glunt is correct- although I 've always elected to get a refund not an OTC tag or go into the leftover draw. But we have OTC tags here where I live.

I have a question for you guys that know how this works a little better. Do all the codes come at one time? I guess what I'm trying to say is I had enough points to draw where I put in and am still showing a 400 code?

Tejas, if you don't have a 500 code for elk then I think you're out of luck, but the 400 code doesn't go away yet so if you draw you will have both 400 and 500 code at the same time. You may have suffered from point creep or you might just have had the minimum number of points required to have a chance to draw but not the minimum number to be guaranteed to draw.

Crusty, I' m not entirely sure about your situation as I didn't realize you could even put preference point as a second choice. I only applied for a point, so I'm sure I got it, and my page doesn't show any 500 code for elk. My guess is you got your first choice license for both deer and elk as the 500 code only shows up if you got a license. Others may chime in who are more knowledgable than I, but that's the way I read it.

No need to apply for a point as your second choice. If you miss your first choice you automatically get a point.

One more question guys. Maybe I don't understand this whole draw process. In the unit I put in for this year....according to last years results I had about a 75% chance to draw a muzzy tag with 4 PP's. It only takes 2 PP's to 100% draw an archery tag. I put that as my second choice. Why did I not draw that tag?

Tejas, if you put in for a unit that takes 4 pp with a 75% chance of drawing on a first choice you will most likely never draw it on a second choice. That hunt code is drawn out before it ever hits the second choice drawings. Your PP only work on your first choice. If you are sitting on points and want to draw a unit that requires points you need to put that hunt code in on your first choice. Apologies if I miss read your question.

Sisabdulax - My guess is you were issued an OTC list B antlerless elk license. You can still buy an either sex archery tag. I'm sure you could turn in the cow tag or use it as an excuse to shoot the first elk you see or keep hunting after you kill one.
