I have a Game Cam set up north in Williams to start scouting for my Sept Cow Hunt. I have some great pics already, but was wondering what bait or attractants do you suggest/recommend to help bring some more in, until hunting season starts? Thanks in advance for the help everyone!!!

Salt, if it's legal.

I was told it was legal up until 2 weeks before hunting season?!? Is that not correct???

Salt manufactured for the cattle industry is the only bait legal in AZ. You can hunt over it too.

Yep, nothing else is legal during the season, and I believe it's 30 days prior that everything else has to be removed.

Any specific brand of salt block you guys have had good luck with? Thx!

The brown mineral blocks work well and enhance horn growth, or so it says. Also they really like the molasses blocks with corn. Like candy to elk, deer and bear. None are legal in the Peoples Republic of California however. Just ask that nugent guy.

Thanks...1st Elk tag I've drawn and I want to make sure I get it done! I'm currently online at Cabelas.com, the problem is that in the reviews it seems that there's one that works great for one hunter, then the very next review says the exact opposite..lol

Just plain white salt. take a 50 lb block and smash is into little pieces. If you do this, it may help to read the law. It has to be a salt based product. No corn, no molasses.

Salt usually only works till the Bulls quit growing.

Thanks for the help...Salt it is! lol I was worried about much else because of the summer monsoons coming soon and I know the area will have a chance of rain almost daily...

The salt will dissolve into the earth with the rain. The elk will paw up the dirt for years to get at the residual salt. Creates a big hole over time.
