Just looking for opinions on the best drop-away rest for a Mathews Creed. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Can't say it is the best, but I have had good luck with my QAD Ultra-Rest HDX on my Mathews Z7. My son has the same on his Mission Riot.

I've have the same qad hdx and haven't had any issues with it.
Qad makes a cheap entry level rest that people on the main board are always complaining about. If you stay away from that rest you should be good to go.
My best,
Kevin

I mount mostly Qad HDX , Limb Drivers and Rip cords . Any of them will work fine . Been selling them for years , when installed correctly and use right have not had any problems with any of them and I have mounted 100s .

I'm with the QAD HDX. I did modify mine slightly. I didn't keep the arrow guard on, and I shortened the prong length to about 3/8ths of an inch (just enough for a saddle) and added Dr. Scholl's extra soft moleskin padding (cut to size) to my rest versus the stuff that comes with it. The moleskin is denser, and has greater adhesive. I've had the same piece of felt on there for three years with no wear whatsoever. The prong length kept shorter has less opportunity for slap or fletching contact. It really allowed me completely free arrow to rest contact once the string is released.

Hdx if set up correctly you shouldn't have to shorten the prongs , the ripcord will eventually stop working if the shooter doesn't cock it before each shot . if you don't cock it , it will ruin the cord were it goes into the rest and not allow the catch to work . I have rebuilt them . But most of the time when they fail ,not all but most are because of shooter error . The thing that will take out a hdx is if the shooter creeps forward when shooting . The rest wont release because of lose of tension in the cord and you will here a fairly loud snap when the fletching hits the prongs and nocks the rest down . Limb driver will sometimes fail if the cord is to tight it will bend the launcher arm after a period of time from hitting the stop to hard . I have a Hooter Shooter and set up most of y drop-aways on it , can get the timing exactly were I want it on the ones that need it .

Upnorth, I feel like the initial installation was set up wrong from the shop, and had to try and figure it out a solution. This was my modification to address fletching to rest contact. I shot cock feather out for years, because I always used the cock feather as my kisser (old schooler who was resistant lol). I then watched the CD and learned how to adjust it correctly, and probably fixed my timing issues, but still like the shortened prongs. I no longer see those tell tale drag marks, and went to a kisser button eventually, and now shoot cock feather up. At this point, I'm still using the modified version, and feel no need for the elongated prongs in the first place besides to keep your arrow on the bow in conjunction with the arrow guard. I'm not typically still hunting, so that is about useless to me.
Thanks for the feedback.

I had issues with all 3 QADs I had. Great CS, they kept sending me a new one until I sold it on AT.
NAP Apache Carbon on 3 bows.

Im not saying what you did was wrong . As long as it works its really not wrong . And also I will agree that there are shops that aren't really shops and the work is iffy . But if a new shooter or a person that yanks the bow back were to cut the prongs down just because it worked for someone else it could cause a problem for him . The most ive ever taken off the prongs is less then 1/8" so the capture part of the rest still works and that's usually on a one particular brand bow . What ever works for the shooter is fine with me . Its like teaching a person to shoot I can give him multiple ways , they have to find what works the best for them not everyone is the same .

LOL, I know it was wrong, but so were my random wayward arrows. The compromise worked, and that is what matters. I'm certainly not the same as everyone else, nor the same as anyone else lol.

CaptMike- The Kazaway, is that what Woodsdweller was referring to above.

I don't think so but I know they have just come out with a new one that uses magnets. Supposedly very fast and the magnets hold it down so there is no rebound and gives better, more uniform clearance and performance.

The old kazaway was OK with feathers but terrible with vanes like Blazers. There was terrible contact. I converted many years ago from a kazaway to the QAD and the QAD is far superior and has provided many years of quality.

One of three for me. Limb Drivers any of the three but I prefer the plain old LD Pro. If I use a cable driven rest QAD HDX is the only one I trust. Last but far from least is the Hamskea Versa rest Pro.

HHA came out with a new drop-away this year . Seems real good but haven't mounted enough of them to give a opinion . I have a hard time when someone asks me which is best . I carry two main lines of bows. I tell my customers its what's best for you not me . They can look at my own bows and tell what I like best . But if what I shoot becomes obsolete I would just move on to another one there's not many bows or rests out there that wont get the job done . Plus even though I have had my shop for over 20 years there a lot of stuff out there I have never handled so its hard to tell what's best unless you shoot or use them all . You should hear some of the discussions that go on in my shop about broadheads for everyone that says ones great there another that says it isn't. Slow time of the year it's Musky fly tying time now for me and my other shop .

To each their own. The Kazaway has taken dozens of deer, turkey, elk, moose, hogs, bears and over 30 African species for me. No complaints but I did take the time to rotate my arrows slightly to insure no fletching contact. I may try this new one at some point but I can't argue with the service I've gotten from it.

I'm a fan of the Rip Cord brand. Had a QAD on my Gander Mountain Tech Hunter, could not get proper clearance. Switch to the Rip Cord and never looked back. I don't think there is a "Best" rest, just make sure it's set up proper.
