That is an awesome buck. Congrats to your Dad. I have a rack with a little bore hole like that too. Someone told me it happens when a bug borrows into the velvet and gets incased when they go hard horn. Not sure if that's correct but it makes for a cool rack.

Great buck, great mount. I have also heard that bugs are the reason, but heard from a taxidermist that when the antlers are soft and growing, when a deer walks into a sharp stick or something it can poke a hole or deform the antler. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else could confirm that.
