Which dates based on the moon?

I know I don't post much but I do read a lot here!
Im struggling with when to take my vacation his year. I hunt North Central. I cant take off anytime from Nov 1-19 but only have 7 days, maybe 8 if the wife is nice! Usually I hunt Nov 5ish-15ish. Ive killed most of my deer on Nov 8 or 9 in the past however Ive shot a few as early as Nov 5 and as late as the 13th.
So, full moon this year is early, Nov 4th and the new moon is around the 18th.
I don't know what to do here. I've never been in the woods after about the 15th.
Thoughts? Earlier or later based on the moon?
I meant to say that I can take off 7 days from Nov 1-19
If I was you, I would choose the 13-19 as the full moon is waning (decreasing in size) that week. Yes....you will miss the height of the seeking/chasing phase that typically happens in late Oct.-early Nov. (typical of my area of SEC KS) and thus might be hunting during the lull of lockdown. As a result, you might see less action/movement overall but might also catch some bigun's out looking after leaving the doe they were paired up with earlier in the month. A little later in Nov. might also give you some cooler temps to hunt during..which is always better. Be aware that KS upland season will be open then so the orange army could help or hurt you? Good Luck!
Figure out your properties first. I have a farm that isn't any good till the 15th and another that is awesome from the 7th to the 11th year after year
I agree with Crested, which probably worries him greatly. :-) The 19th has been "my" day, and usually on mature bucks I've never seen. That said. I don't hunt for score, pass on some nice bucks and am not bothered not filling a permit on a buck.
Closer to Thanksgiving the better! Unless we have an early rut, which has never happened in the history of deer hunting!
Westksbowhunter said it best, as close to Thanksgiving as possible, if you really want to see some of the bigger bucks. I've only killed one mature buck before the 15th of November. And I usually begin hunting in late October.
The 9th has been my day historically. Either way, Im looking to have a week off of work and have a bunch of time hanging in a tree.
We did lose one of our farms to an outfitter...Really upset about this but I have to realize that $ talks and I don't own the property.
We are hunting a new place, which we have hunted in prior years(I haven't hunted it but my buddy has). It has produced good bucks Nov 5th through Thanksgiving.
You will see more deer on the 9th vs the 26th but your chance of killing a really mature (over 5 years) is better around thanksgiving. If you are after 140 inch 3 and 4 year old bucks go the 9th. If you want those 160 plus go around thanksgiving.

The only bigger buck I've shot before Nov 15th -- I shot him in NC Kansas hunting on friend's ground, the Mrs. and I take the first week of Nov to hunt there every year, that leaves the best hunting time for us back home in SE Kansas.
Good bucks ksq! Love that mass on 1st pic

Nice buck, but man, that stache is awesome!!!!!!!!!
LOL on the stache!
When I initially saw that 10pt, I thought he was a young deer. The more I looked at him, the more I couldn't get him younger than 4.5. He was drawn up bad. After I skinned him, I realized why...He had been shot twice prior to me piling him up. He had been gut shot and I don't have a clue how he was still alive and once I quartered the meat, I found a rage buried in his shoulder.
If basing on the moon then I would agree the 13th-19th. WKB knows what he speaks so maybe the 16th to the 24th. Shawn
Rage seems to tell the whole story. Cut on contact one-piece heads.
Not a Rage fanboy but 1 in the shoulder proves little.Over the years I or friends have found the following cut on contact heads in deer and elk taken.2 Zwickeys(1 was the big Delta),Bear razorhead,Ace Express(point curled as well)and some sort of 3 blade solid Bodkin type that apparently had razors glued on since one was still attached. All animals fine except for 'growths'.No indication of infections.
Only reason you found that Zwickey is because it had passed through the original animal killed and did one complete revolution around earth and ended up in a second animal. Who knows what else it passed through during its journey? Shot Zwickey's for decades and never lost a single animal. In fact most died within sight.
Doubt U shot Zwickeys as long as I and doubt 'results' as well but regardless they don't kill with certain shots and they fail like most others at times.Ignore fact with bravado if U wish.I know better. Got lots of them for sale if U are looking for them.

Leftee....I had been shooting Zwickey's since 1989. My results mentioned are indeed true. However, last year I used a mech'l head because I was given an outfitted Mathews bow in late Oct, that was tuned/dialed in and came with lighter FMJ carbon arrows/mech'l heads and I shot it well. So last Nov., I just used it the way it came and had similar results of previous years (see attached link).
Crested, nice deer.Yes,Zwickeys are great heads no doubt. My first animal with one was an Ontario bear in 1969.First bull in Montana in 71.Many many successes with them for years.Ditto on my wife who took 7 bear with the lil Eskimo in the 70s and 80s. My hunting partner back in those days was/is a well known bowhunter who lived near and was friends with Jack Zwickey. I have a section of a bucks spine that has an old embedded Delta in it.For years used it as a paperweight and am trying to find it.If do,will take a pic and send to U.That was one lucky and tough buck-until he ran into another Zwickey. While in the shed looking for it yesterday I did come across a bunch of arrows still wearing Zwickeys. Some wood, some assorted early Aluminums(even a few red 'Wing' 2016s of my wifes)and a few Gordon glass fiberglass.A few with already sharpened Deltas coated with vaseline, wrapped in Saran wrap, then duct taped.Ha,they have been 'ready' to go for years. It was a walk down memory lane. I've always thought Cliff Zwickeys greatest head and greatest contribution to archery was the 'Judo' point.Rare day I don't shoot a few arrows using them. Good hunting!
I think it depends on what kind of set-up you are using. I like earlier if I am decoying rather than later. Killed my biggest to date on November 7, 2013 coming into a deke.
Online Outdooor Life had an article and called moon phase "conversation fodder" or something of the sort. They said the best predictor of the coming rut is the date the fawns dropped the summer before.
Impatience ushers "an early rut".....The week of 12-19 is what you need to do.19-26 is even better. My top 6 were all after the 15th

Thornton...guess it wasn't this one?
Leftee...my 2014 buck "Frazier" shot w/Zwickey was a quartering away shot that ended up in it's lower spine near its front legs.
Figured I hit spine because he went down and had no use of his back legs and quickly bled out since the broad head zipped thru most of his body cavity.
While gutting him I was concerned I might find the broadhead by accident (and not in a good way). After hanging him, I found it in btm of spine up between both front shoulders (see pic).
Good thing about those Zwickeys, I removed it from his spine and glued it on another arrow shaft for future use. Most other broadheads would have disintegrated or been unshootable again.
Yeh tough heads. Had a number shoot multiples.A few oldtimers may recall the late Wayne Miller from Little Falls MN who back in the day had a Zwickey Eskimo that had taken over 15 deer and a couple elk. On the time question,I'd go later.11/15 to Thanksgiving day has given me my biggest deer whether in SD,Mn,or Illinois.Suspect Ks no different.I go in for T dinner but i go back out till dark.
