Had rain Sunday and Tuesday afternoon, wouldn't it be great if the monsoon would start early this year.
Terry 23 North
We got weather down here in the valley, HOT WEATHER:( Glad you guys got some rain, it would be nice if we had a wet monsoon season!
Terry 23 North, is that your new signature line? its killing me here. How many points did you draw with? Hoping you have a fabulous hunt so you can share a little info with me. LOL
moch, had 9 points, seeing lots of cows. Grandson and I went out last evening and heard a bugle. Got to 40 yds 0f 2. That is not a new signature line, that is where I live.
Terry
Yea I know just playing with you Coyote 65. hope you get a big un.
Clouded up again this afternoon, we got a few drops, but it looked as if it were raining hard south towards Young.
Terry

bring it! This state is drier than a 90 year old cooch!
We got hammered last night. It sounded like the roof was coming off. I can't work today because it's too wet but have lots of cleanup around the house.
Had a flash flood today. 1.5 inches of rain in 2 hours.
Up to 7.5 inches for the month.
For all you tag holding monsoon watchers, all I can say is that you are in LUCK. The entire year has been blessed with a generous amount moisture from a wet winter to a wet spring. My gardens are booming and the antler growth should match. Good luck to all !
My front yard from my porch.
My front yard from my porch.
Keep those rain reports coming. Thanks
Average rainfall for the Payson area is 2.5 inches in July. I live about 30 miles east of Payson and so far this month I am at 8 inches with a week in the month left to go.
And I do have an early bull elk tag.
Terry
8.5 inches with 3 days to go, should break 9 inches for the month.
Terry
better grab a snorkel! I head up to Happy Jack next week to start scouting for 5BS. I think I'll bring my rain gear based upon what i am hearing…..
My daughter lives in white river. Tells use it has been raining everyday since my wife left in mid july. I was there in mid june to help my daughter with her surgery. At the time, we had no rain, but great heat. LOVED it. 105-115 between whiteriver and Show low everyday.
Well we are officially over 9 inches for the month right under the rim in unit 23. I have been scanning the radar maps daily and the White Mountains have been hit harder than I have.
The most rain I have seen during the monsoon season since I moved here full time 3 years ago.
Terry
coyote that is what my daughter has been saying. when I was there, it was pretty dry. she even took me to timber mesa archery in show low. it was nice to hear them ask her why she hasn't been coming in to shoot. now that her surgery is done, an she is feeling better. she is going to start back.
all this rain is great for the desert and high country. But sure going to make my antelope hunt a little tougher.
Ended up at 9 3/4 inches for the month of July. August is usually wetter than July, so we may get our annual average rainfall in 2 months.
That is ok, I may stock the stream running down my driveway with trout.
Terry
Looking great out there! I know we've also had some great precipitation up on top of the rim. It was good timing for the finishing out of the elk antlers. Now if it can just dry out a smidge before the archery deer opener.....
August not so much, just a half inch so far in the first 6 days. My trout stream down the driveway has dried up.
Terry
daughter said they got pounded up in show low and whiteriver the last couple of days
I was up in Happy Jack over the weekend, nice mid afternoon rain storms both days. When I left Sunday mid morning, it was 66 degrees...shoulda stayed! It is crazy green up there, headed back Thursday to check some new areas out.
Well August is a monsoon bust. Less than an inch of rain. However everything is green green green. Went out this evening and saw two groups of elk, one with a 5x5 bull, still in velvet. He looked massive. Velvet does that, but still a shooter.
Terry
One or two more good rains and let it dry out. I am too physically broken up this year to do a lot of hiking. Water may be my best chance at a good bull.
Had a half inch today, and more predicted for tomorrow, so I lied about August being a bust.
Terry
Got .6 inch last night. So an Inch for August. Still a little more than a week to go so it could turn out to be a normal August.
Terry
.4 today. So about an inch and a half for the month 4 more days to go. Ruined my deer hunt this afternoon.
Terry
Little less than 2 inches for August, but on a happier note as I sit here typing this at 11:00 PM the windows are open and I can hear 3 bulls bugling. Pleasant dreams, I know I will have some.
Terry
your a Lucky man Coyote 65, can not wait to hear your story. get a big un!
Thought the monsoons were done, but got an inch yesterday afternoon. It all came down in about an hour.
Terry
I am declaring the monsoons done. At my house 13.35 for the season. Normal monsoon is about half that.
