I've heard about this bear and saw the photo last week and I swear the one that went thru my yard on Father's Day was that size. My Brittanies ran one out of our yard this morning that my wife saw . She said it wasn't that big. This is in New Preston.

Pic was taken by my friend. It was the Bear who came back after killing the Kent Donkey
Yes the caretaker did shoot it. I've been Bear hunting for 25 Years and have only seen one Bear over 500#.

I've seen one bear that almost weighed 500 that was killed in Maine back in the late 90's. You can't even imagine what that things was capable of taking down. It must of had a heck of an appetite.

When I went bear hunting up in Maine a guide foot snared a 430 pounder and when we went to check it out at the trap site this bear leveled every tree around it trying to get free. I saw first hand the power of a bear and it is unreal.

Goggle record black bear weights and check out some of those bears. Record weight was taken in 1972 in New Brunswick and dressed out at 902 lbs! Estimated live weight was around 1100 lbs. There are several listed from PA that weighed in at over 700 lbs. A 557 lb black bear is still one big bear.

NE - now that's an ugly bear! Mange? Not sure what wrong with it, but looks terrible though.
I was shocked to find bear scat in my backyard last night. Told my wife it was just coyote poop but she kept saying "It doesn't look like normal dog poop, it's really black with seeds in it?" If I said BEAR she'd want to move.

That explains why you're all pucked up :) Sorry Doc, couldn't resist. With your size you must have been tough to handle on the ice! You're more like a tight end.
