2017 Trail Camera Pictures
Massachusetts
Contributors to this thread:
Thought maybe anyone interested could put pictures on this thread. Not only do I have virtually no bucks on cameras (one or two button bucks), I have very few deer period. Thought I'd start it off with this picture, just collected today, which pretty much sums it up in my case.
Jeb - you are so dang funny man! Ha! Crappy looking Coyote.
I need to get my cameras out. I saw a good buck last week that already 12 inches going
Buddy got a nice buck on camera on one of our properties. Gets the juices flowing...
I just put a trophy rock out and cam out behind house... saw what looked to be a 4 point behind house the other AM and then had another spike cross in front of me Sat AM. I will put another half dozen cameras out come August when my daughter's softball season is over.
To add to the weird trail cam pics. I got this one earlier this year of a fox chasing what I believe to be a fisher.
Very cool photos. That's going to be a hard lesson for that fox if it decides to mess with a fisher cat.
Oh yeah, fisher wins that one hands down. That looks like a big one.
that's truly an incredible picture, cant believe a fox would even try that one! thanks for sharing. and that coyote picture is damn funny jeb!
Young Buck passing through, actually my first time using a trail cam on public ground.
Checked one camera today no bucks on this one just a bunch of does and this little one
I have lots of does and potential spikes but nothing worthy yet.
Jeb, You are the funniest guy I never met! Great picks everyone.
Cool pics so far guys! I have a camera over my food plot and mineral site set to video, and have some great stuff. I have one video with 8 different deer in it,and another with 6 different bucks! In the last one the dominant buck was chasing off a couple of the younger guys. He already had a pretty good rack going, and that was a month ago. I tried to post them in a desperate attempt to show off, but I can't figure out how to do it! Lol
Nothing big yet. These 2 are biggest so far
Here's a trail camera picture for you--ants set up shop in camera.
No deer, coyote taking a crap, and now the ants. Jeb, I'm beginning to think that the wildlife in the area just doesn't respect you...
Yes it looked very much like that coyote was sending a message.
Jeb, that's amazing. I've had spiders manage to set up - and caterpillars - in the lock box, but never in the camera box proper - that's wild!
Some cool pics overall. Eastie, that sounds awesome!!!
i put up a trial cam the other day im waiting a week or 2 to see what it there (my new property) and once i do ill post them.. i heard there is a bear and a moose running around and turkeys out of the but lol
I just put another cam out Sat AM. 2 down... 4-5 to go!
I've been waiting for this doe to come by with her fawns. She is a regular on this camera and has been absent for awhile. She must have a good hiding place.
Last year in the backyard I was getting 3 does with 1,2,and 3 fawns between them daily. This year I finally got a doe with 1 fawn. I'm guessing the other does are just traveling elsewhere for now.

First setup with the new Browning.
I just put another cam out today at lunch down towards the CT line while I was out that way for a meeting.
Lots of night time pics, one small buck and first Zn10 bobcat.
Thanks, here now but who knows once the season gets here!

Thanks, here now but who knows once the season gets here!
Bricase - welcome aboard - and awesome looking wide buck.
jrdeerslyr - wholly smokes the brows on that buck are nuts!
Arch - love seeing the fawns... The bucks are cool to - at first I thought, wow, date must be wrong, barely any leaves on the trees and look at all that antler, then I realized it had to be gypsy moth damage...
I'm behind, hope to get one out next week...
Got a bachelor group here with a good spread on the top left deer.
Damn SevOne, you have some brutes in your spot.
Really nice bucks on here guys, hope they show up for us in October. Here's a few pics from video stills, sorry about the quality.
SevOne i smell another swamp brute in your future
SevOne, he's awesome! Good luck with him, hope you get him figured out and get a crack at him.
Hoping so! Put in a shit ton of work this off-season honed in on some good areas hopefully all that work pays off literally frothing at the bit counting down the days until season gets here.
Hope everyone is doing all the prep work now and as excited as I am.
Good god you guys! WOW! Sevone that beast is WIDE... Eastie you have a bunch of bucks there :) Ebow he's a brute. Awesome pic's all - hope I didnt miss anyone but if I did - sorry - these are awesome pics!
Had my cam out for a week and just one 6pt and one doe with no fawns. Odd I'm seeing hardly any fawns in the backyard and on my cam down the road.
Target#1
Target#1
One to watch for come October.
Sevone what did you do different this year than you did in the past? And what made you decide to do the extra this year and not the past?
@longbeard I essentially just put in a lot more time and effort in the off season... as soon as my season was over (NOV 5TH) I spent the rest of my free time scouting and then shed hunting and taking notes on trails and scrapes rub lines... I ran Cameras and cataloged all the bucks in my area. study maps and terrain... hiking miles and miles....
Jez... I hope to heck you get him Sev. Amazing animal!
Sev, just curious, what zone are those brutes in?
That's a beauty, Sev. Hope you get him.
Hope to see that one in your hands Sev. What did your buck score last year?
Pulled a card today. Hopefully they hang around.
Had a cub right behind her
Had a cub right behind her
Bowhunter3 . Dude, you need a tracking device or a drone . Best of luck with this . Wow.
Bowhunter3, is your cam in Illinois ? Kansas? Wow! Good luck to you sir.
Pulled another card today
Holy smokes bowhunt3!!!!!! Unreal what zone?
The pics from the 31st are zone 10 today's were from zone 9
you guys putting any attractants out or anything for your cam pics? I have gotten very few this year.
Wholly guacamole bowhunt3138. It's looks like you found yourself a bachelor group of 3.5+ year olds. Hope they dont disperse to far.
Curious question. Are you hunting suburban, or rural - and if that latter, big woods? I'd be curious to hear from you and Sevone - what are you guys looking for out there? when you are scouting, what are you seeing that makes you go: "THIS" is a key spot?
Hey Will, my spot in zone 10 is suburban 5 acres pretty much in a back yard . A customer of mine asked me for years to kill the deer that eat everything in his yard . If they come through the property they have to come through a 100 yard funnel. I've shot a bunch of deer there. Great spot. The spot in zone 9 is suburban too a piece around 50 acres surrounded by McMansions and farms. I drove by it for years . Decided to check it out one day and couldn't believe the sign. Then stopped by town hall to see who owned it and if it was huntable. Town land , they gave me written permission. Good thing because cops tried to stop me from going in twice, saying there's no hunting in there. Great bedding area!! Missed the crazy antlered buck in pic last year. Shot over him opening night @ 35 yards. Ended up killing a doe & two sixes there. Good luck this year.
Bowhunt - those Zone 10 deer look so much like the deer I have on camera in Zone 10 that it's weirding me out - same scenario you describe, but I could be on one of the adjoining properties. No chance you're in a town that starts with "W" is there? Ha!
Here's one of the guys from a month ago, and another pic I took with my cell phone a couple weeks ago. Have a bachelor group of three, all about like this guy. But not many does around, so I'm not sure they'll stay. Best of luck to everyone...
Interesting to hear Bowhunt. Thanks for the info.
Hi Late, no I'm not in a W town. That second pic is a beautiful deer , huge body. Good luck this season !!
He's just bout ready!
He's just bout ready!
@will I study a lot of maps look for terrain features and vegetation that looks promising then I put boots on the ground and investigate...A lot!
Holy crap guys! Since the end of last seaason I havent been on the site at all, and today I needed the motivation to get my a** in gear! These are some awesome bucks, hopefully when I put in my cameras this weekend ill find something to get me really excited for this season! Got a new job after last season and everything is finally starting to settle down so ill be able to get back on the site more and back into hunting mode!
More nice bucks guys!! Welcome back TDurr, just in time for the fun! Lateriser, I was thinking the same thing! I'm in 10 myself, not in a town with a W, Haha. I'm also on a bachelor group, should be enough doe in the area to hold a fair amount, although it seems they inevitably spread out. The king of my little piece never strays far from home though, and has his own stable of ladies to choose from. I think I found his backdoor from bedding yesterday, and also had a young six come within 20 yards of me,pretty cool. Here's to hoping we can find them in October!
Beautiful buck deerslayer.
Nice bucks here for sure. So far just a small 6 for me. I've been slacking with the job and the new dog just keeping me too busy.
J - nice bucks - in your plot?
Sev - sweet jeeeepers man. That is not a deer, it's a bionic crazy woods monster - you may want to back out to stay safe. I'm happy to just, you know, check in on the spot now and then for you to make sure it's safe :)
Ha!
Sev, I think your on the wrong forum. You must be wanting the Iowa forum ha. Are those different spots and bucks?
Another beauty Sev! Tick tock . Come on October.
Wow. Awesome pictures all. My phone won't let me submit pictures, I need to consult my kids to fix. But when I do I have some pictures of raccoons and crows that will knock your socks off.
I got that Same deer on 3 different cams! I Think I have him surrounded lol. I have seven cameras doing a 1 mile loop around where I think his core areas Is.
Sev....hopefully your bucks dont move.....over the years ive had several bucks around all summer then move off to a different area in fall.
It's like musical chairs sometimes. But I use established community scrapes to hang cams on so if they move someone new shows up
Sev, do you consider taking the first week off to hunt them? I met a guy from MA that always takes his vacation first week of season and shoots big bucks the first week without fail. He showed me his photo album and it made my jaw drop. He believes the worst time to hunt big bucks is the rut when they travel all over. By the looks of his pictures I wasn't going to argue about that. He said it got to the point where guys were looking for his truck and knew he was on to a monster.
Spike, I agree. If your after a specific buck you better have him patterned before the rut. I luckily have time I can get out opening week I should be good. I tagged out to early last year I need to try to hold out this year for the target deer I'm after. (At least that's the plan)
Nice buck !! Great pic !!
Been chasing this bruiser for a few seasons now.
Wow..stunning photos folks,.. thanks
One of my hunting buddies got this guy on his trail camera. I hope one of us gets a crack at him.
Wow. Just one wow after another. Amazing deer folks.
Some real monsters out there.. wow
Got these 2 bachelors on camera
Sorry don't know how to rotate pic any advise on how to???
Ok - to those of you who have been posting on here for a long time (I'm about 12 years at this point), am I crazy or have we got more big deer being posted this year than ever? Feels like in the past, a few big deer would be seen, and lots of spikes, forks, baskets, does, etc...
This year, it's like: "look at my close to Pope" or "look at my way up into Pope" or "This guy may push Boone" (ok, maybe not the last one...).
AMAZING to see the size of all these beasts. Well done to you all for getting on em!
Not a trail camera pic but from my cell phone. Probably got 50 yards from him. There was another even bigger, further out but couldn't get a decent photo. These guys hang out in a little strip of land that is very close to homes and a major highway. Let's say it's not too far from Blue Hills.
Will, I know the photo of the deer I just posted is one of at least three really nice bucks on that property. I saw them last year from my stand... they never got closer than 50 yards. I also know there's a wall hangar in the woods near my house. I'm not sure why there are so many big ones running around these days. Maybe they were always there... but we get photos of them now due to the increase in trail cameras.

Jeeze where are you guys hunting?? I get excited when I see a small 4 on camera. Hope to see just one of these guys down this fall. GL all, great pics!
Holy crap SevOne, that's a beast...
Wholly crap Sev! Is that two drop tines on the right? I roughed a score and he looks like he could be 160+ if my estimates are correct (velvet always makes it super hard, so do angles...). That's one of the biggest cam deer I've ever seen for MA.
Big props to you for the hard work you put in to find him. Also for the work to narrow down your big woods... AND, I think I speak for every hunter on this site when I say this: You have a LOT of positive energy coming your way for 2 months from now. Hope to heck you get him man!
@will he's a beast for sure I appreciate the good vibes! Let's hope his home range doesn't change too much and maybe I'll see him from stand!
Sev, is that the same buck as the other above?
Yes Spike got him on a few different cams. I think I've got him surrounded LOL
He's awesome Sev. Hope you get him .
Love check the cameras day.
Good to see a Massachusetts moose, I guess im not loosing my mind. I had one standing next to my mail box a few years back. Their is good amount of moose sign around.
I'm thinking this guy is between 2 & 3. I hope his dad is still around
some very nice bucks guys... for some reason I can't seem to get any pics to post... I've got a couple of dandy's on cam and a really nice modest 8 point and a few little guys so far.
Late riser - wowser! Cool to see the deer bedded on the crest of the "ridge" behind him too.
Primal - he's a stud too!
These 2 are all so far. I'm staying out of my good spots this year, tired of great pictures in August and no bucks in November.
Wow that looks like an elk!
Jeb, that spot has high rack genetics. Been getting bucks like that for a few years now.
This guy has been around just about every day. The landowner's apple tree has more apples on it this year than it ever has before. He's seen more deer this summer than he ever has. They destroyed all his vegetables, and he's not too happy about it!
Bring on October 16!
That's a beauty Moons!
Murphy - that deer is cool, something really neat about tall racks!
1st camera check of the year. little bit of everything in 4S
This guy first pics of him... Hopefully he shows up during the season!!!
Mr Rager - need any help with that one :). Welcome aboard the forum as well! Welcome to JBow too. Mainphone - that's a cool spot - moose, deer, bears... Oh My! :)

Yes these are all western Mass bucks, put together this little video of 2017 bucks. Seem to be lots of them around this year....
Wow some beasts this year!
Hey Spike, yea, getting lots of reports from friends this year too, seem to be a lotta big boys out there this season.
Western, that tall buck is beyond gorgeous. What an amazing deer!
Weird that someone on here is posting pictures that aren't his.
Hunterma what kind of camera is that? It must be fast, you get their heads on the way into the picture. I get opposite end, on the way out.
It is a Browning Special Op's. Usually a get a few blank shots before they appear and then the corner headshot. But sometimes just the opposite like this bear pic. Go figure.
Bears only walk backwards this time of year. You know fall back and such. Sheesh , get an edjumacation .
Great pics Hunterma, Wish I was out your way sometimes . My other Ma, preference.
Thanks Pi, a lot of nice deer around all of a sudden. I'm a zone 8 guy, where are you zone 10/11?
Ungie, heck of a buck - is he smelling bait/a scrape? I dont see a branch overhead, but the ground looks all dark where he's sniffing.
HunterMA - cool to see the variety of critters you have!
Its packed with game now, last year I got a lot of deer pics there but when I hunted it saw nothing. Yesterday I hung a lockon there in a different spot/angle, about 22 yards from where the camera is focused. We will see I guess.
There are some unreal MA bucks on cam this year. All a distant second to Jeb's yote crapping on his set though. That pic makes me laugh every time I open this thread.
This 8pt is a beauty, definitely on top of the hit list.
This 8pt is a beauty, definitely on top of the hit list.
This is just 1/3 10+pt Bucks I have on (3) separate hunting locations. Seasons brewing nicely. Thats two pics of the same 10pt, and an 8pt at a different spot.
Murphy31 if you are referring to me, I have my own site where a lot of people post pics. Most of the pics on my post though, are from the core group of our organization, with a couple from guests or members of our page. Good luck.
Just to bookend this briefly with rude yotes. This one apparently thought very little of my spot.
Huntingwm, Have to be careful. My buddies cams have been getting stolen for the past few years. Then I come on here and there's his picture. A few of the other pictures in you're post are the same of brand cameras he had stolen. Good luck to you also.
Murphy31, I'm not sure if thats an allegation or not, my name is Len Kahle, and the brand of camera one uses does not mean a thing. If I posted the picture, you can be certain the person that posted it on my site knows me. Not sure if your friend is Jason Can***, and also, if people post pics on my site with a camera that was stolen, I have no idea or control of that. Many hunters use the same types of cameras, especially Wildgame innovations because of their price. Thanks for the heads up, if your friend has an issue with me re-posting a pic please have him contact me through Hunting Western Mass. Straight shots
No issue, we were just confused about it all for alittle. We thought maybe we finally found the cam theif, and no I wasn't saying you were the theif in my last post. I was just saying be careful when posting other peoples pics because it may lead to unnecessary accusations. Anyway, everything is all good.
Hunterma , I am in zone 11 south/east end , moved from west side last season. Getting a better feel for this space, this year . Moving stinks ,when one has to start over but I did have one area that I occasionally hunted here in the past . It was an Hours drive , you know how that is ... unappealing. That one space is a winner though and I have some good information from the caretaker . Land of the giants for sure. Its difficult to get to for most folks and surrounded by private land but I have a little piece of land for parking on a private road as well as permission. Now If I can get through a year without having stuff stolen ... That too would be nice , along with a Monster Buck under my tree.
Sounds like you landed on your feet at the new house. Always fun to explore new areas as well. I don't have the deer numbers here like there are in zones 10 and 11 but I am spoiled by having access to thousands of acres of public land and I never drive more than 20-30 minutes to hunt. I'd rather have exclusive rights to private land, or even better would be a big block of my own, but no complaints.
Always exciting seeing the first one without velvet!
Did you name him Auggie ? I was thinking "Sharky". Those spikes look dangerous and big bases on that boy.
Not yet Pi but I like it! The other option was Patches. First buck I've ever had on camera with the double neck patch.
Huntingwm's Link
No prob Murphy31, I wrote a long deal and hit back button & lost everything. Long & short, Having had my stuff vandalized/broken/stolen, I hang my cameras higher and lock everything. All ethical hunters pay a price and would love to catch a thief in action. But I believe its about protecting our stuff as best we can. Thats all I can do. Karma is a real thing, and Ive seen it thrive in the forest, lol. Velvets coming off, and bear season opens Saturday for me!
Heres some cool pics from OL of a buck shedding velvet
Nice buck Auggie...love seeing them fresh out of velvet.
Cool link HuntingWM, waste not, want not . . .
Sharkytwopatch ! Hunterma , With a name like that ... Now you gotta kill 'em !
Big Luck sent to top off your skills. - Pi
Yeah Pi your right, I should have gone with Mass Hunter and sounded like a stone cold killer (LOL)
I got my daughter interested in game cams and she put one in her back acreage. Now she's showing me up.
I went to check cams today in mass, but it didn't work out. I got near my stand and camera. When I hear something knocking acorns out of and oak. I look up, and see a black blob. As I'm thinking oh fck that's a bear. It looks right at me. I start backing out, and it starts coming down the tree. Now the oh fck thoughts really start going off. When he gets about half way down. Another bear starts heading up the same tree. Mean while the one never took its eyes off me. So I was pretty sure it was coming down to kill me at that point lol. I keep backing out and once they hit the ground I never saw them again. Luckily the one that notice me wasn't looking for a fight. Never made it to my cam though, but I did make it out in one piece, so I'm pretty happy.
Murphy, I'll ask the obvious question. So when you going back in to check that camera? And will you have a bear tag in your pocket and a .308 in your hands...
Im trying to go back tonight. Looking for another guy go so we can set up on each side of the swamp and whack one tonight when they come back out tonight. No gun though to small. People would freak out
Good luck man, maybe you can start the MA meatpole thread this season.
Good luck let us know how it goes!
That's crazy can't say it has ever happened to me but that's why when I go in the 357 is on my hip. Always expecting the fight. Lol good luck!
Crazy Murphy ! HunterMa I sure hope your daughter hunts because that one would be on the hit list! Helluva buck. Good luck
She doesn't hunt but I've got an open invite. The 500 foot setback kills me though with the neighbors, am going to try to figure a trail it uses that I can perhaps leave her property and still hunt that buck legal.
Hunterma , I did not mean your name but the deer's name . I will admit though , when I first read it I thought it was a "hunter mother" ( ma ) ... then it clicked. Fine name . "Mass Hunter " is great too . You can change it if you wish.
To be clear: "Skarky-twopatch" with a name like that ... Now you gotta kill em !
Best of luck , you got some real good targets , friend .
6 pointer sending me a message
A Buck with two heads !!! ... "The taxidermist is gonna have a heart attack "
I've been a little lazy and only have one camera out. I figured the rainy afternoon yesterday was a good time to swap out the card. Got deer 6 mornings in a row between 6:30 and 9:30. A lot of does, a couple of bucks. This is the best one.
30 minutes before I checked the camera.
E-Bow - looks like something took a bight out of it's ear . Shotgun ? Nice deer .
Bruce P. Best one "so far"... With a lot of does there will be big boys on the scene soon enough. Do you have the patience ? Great spot .
Pi, it's funny that you say it's a great spot. This is a place that I saw/heard all kinds of mid November chasing a few years ago while in a stand 80-100 yards away. Couldn't get them closer so never had a shot. After that season I hung a stand in closer and then the last couple of years I have seen zero deer in there. I get them on camera during Aug/Sept but see zip come Oct/Nov. But this daily morning pattern has me hopeful because even when I've had them on camera the last couple of years it wasn't with this kind of consistency. This is the spot I'll be with my daughter before 1st light on Sept 30, and to be honest I just hope the pattern continues until then. If she gets a crack at a deer (any deer) I'll be happy, even if the spot goes dead for the remainder of the season. Now of course I hope she gets a deer AND the spot stays busy all year but only time will tell I guess.
Got lots of pics of does and fawns on this camera. Was just waiting for the boys to start showing up.
PI no clue this is a new spot for me.
some zone 11 bucks, dont know how to rotate
some zone 11 bucks, dont know how to rotate
BruceP, maybe there is oaks or other mast crop that is dropping in that spot again . ??? They could have had nothing good to munch for a few years and just moved to eat what was available. A late frost will zap the developing nuts , just like a fruit tree. And that did happen for a few years ,at least where I was . They will be there ... And or because , You got your magic with you this year. I'm Happy for you .
EBow , It looks good to me . He and his buddies wont be far away . You will bag a bigun' be ready , expect it.
Looks like my buddy lost his velvet... tick tock....
Muzzy, that's an absolute beast! Hope you see him from stand, during legal light...
What do you think he scores? I have one a little over 130" hanging in my living room and this guy puts him to shame.
Thanks Bruce. Same deer next morning.
Not sure, my biggest is 157. I'd like to find out! Maybe 140s.
Hope to fill doe tag
Hope to fill doe tag
Finally got some bucks on camera
just scrolled theough again and man ebow10 that buck looks old, and vtec15 thats a monster 8
@Broken looks like he has some age and character to him .
This is another pic of him about 2 miles away.
This is another pic of him about 2 miles away.
30 minutes ago in my side yard. Took it with my cellphone.
Jez o pete Sev... While your "star" is ginormous, this super tall 8 (i think) is actually even cooler to me. those super tall G2's are amazing!
Pulled a card today and had this guy pass through a couple times. This is my favorite one, I like how he is sticking his tongue out at the camera, almost as if to say "you know you won't get me"
I'm not much of a trophy hunter, imo harvesting any deer with a bow in Massachusetts is impressive, but I think I might develop an obsession with this guy lol
An old guy on the decline? Or a buck on the rise? Funky point, I call him "Gangle"
An old guy on the decline? Or a buck on the rise? Funky point, I call him "Gangle"
Wow I almost feel embarassed to put my deer on here. Looking for some advice... I think this is an old boy on the decline, fairly good shots, anyone have any thoughts?
Wow - that is a really cool racked buck Auggie!
Definitely unique Will! The rack almost looks like the handle bars of a motorcycle
Great deer , don't hold back.
I don't think his chest is deep enough for an old timer . I would guess a 3 1/2 year old but I don't think he will live much longer, if you have a stand in place.
There are some nice bucks on camera this year. Can't wait to see you guys holding them in the harvest thread!
am i the only one who has to scroll alllll the way to the bottom or is there a trick hahaha. heres todays take where i got a chance to get a stand up today z9
Trick is click on the last guys name at the top. Good looking buck! Awful dark for 130 in the afternoon on a beautiful January day ;)
I think its time for a Part 2 thread for trail cam pics.
sounds like a good idea. hopefully sometime soon I'll be able to contribute to that. been my worst year for pictures. I think I've gotten 2 small bucks all year and that has been recent. and that's with up to 6 cameras running. mind you I haven't spent a lot of time moving them or searching. I never seem to get many pics till October anyways. all goes as planned they will change their patterns for me soon...
hahaha im an idiot thanks moons 22 u saved my finger from enless scrolling, i still woulda gotta love seein all these monsters from all over
Finally a decent buck. Was sniffing a does rear in another pic.
their a trick to getting to the bottom! wtf
Well if you want bear pics....
Sev, that was sweet of him, he got all pretty for you. So much easier for the "Taxi Man"... :)
Jay, is that 3 cubs with that sow? YIKES!
Spike - nice! is that in back of your place, or your western MA areas?
Will that is ten minutes up the road from me on private land I got permission on. Here in zone 7 that's a good one. I haven't gotten a monster since I stopped putting cams out in zone 6. I feel I need more days to hunt 6 then I have so sticking close to home this year during bow.
So many great pics! WMA love that pic with the cub thinking if he wants to climb your ladder stand or not.
