I know you are not on here debating WV bowhunting. This site has been boring lately. LOL

I've been busy doing a double blind research study with fruit flys regarding their ability to pass on certain traits such as eye color and curly wing development in response to climate change and rising CO2 levels in our environment .

I never want to see another fruit fly again after genetics class

You might consider obtaining a few fruit flys from the wood county area. They may produce some interesting data considering that they have most likely have consumed some of the C8 from our water.

I've been following that. It is sad with the cancer rate and the fact it doesn't go away.

Shooting my bow, setting stands already, planted a food plot with another to be planted soon ! Waxed 6 dozen coyote traps, tuned them up, and stored them in totes buried in peat moss ! Thinking about an upcoming mule deer hunt to Sonora Mexico and a Mountain Lion Hunt ! Besides that, 1 of man's biggest waste's of time, mowing grass every week to keep up with the neighbors ! God bless and much time spent daydreaming in my porch swing about my arrows going through as many whitetails as possible ! lol

Building a set of wood arrows for a man in Kentucky, processing some turkey feathers for fletching. Mowing a lot of grass and waiting for hunting season.

He does, JR.

Yes JR I am retired and loving it. I have about 15 dozen finished wood arrows on hand , different spines and all full length. Will cut to length and taper.

Just curious because things like wood arrows and tuning traditional equipment confuse me... how do you create or determine spine of a wood arrow? It all sounds really cool I am just clueless about it.
From: Jim Casto Jr

Without going in to a whole lot of detail.... type of wood, its density and diameter of the shafts determine the spine. You need to spine test the shafts to find out for sure. The old standard was to hang a 2 lb weight across a 26" span for wood shafts.
Something like this... there are a lot of variations:

Since I'm semi-retired, I've been shooting my bow a lot and as always, buying, trying and selling a bunch of stuff too. :^) I've got one of those Murrell, Outdoor Range targets sitting on the counter in the garage, one of those Rinehart 18-1 targets on the driveway a 13 target 3D range set up here at the house. So.... needless to say, I've shot a lot of arrows this summer.
I took in the WV IBO Triple Crown, and am hoping to go the IBO Traditional World shoot in Clarksville, TN, next weekend and the Eastern Ohio Traditional Rendezvous in Cambridge, OH, in August.
Then, it'll be time to setup the hunting rig and shoot it exclusively for three weeks when I leave for a pronghorn hunt in Wyoming. This is the hunt I won at the WVBA banquet. Got my license in the mail yesterday.
Aside from cut'n the grass, routine maintenance, helping the son out when he needs me, and doing WHATEVER the wife says... that's about it.

Wvbowhunter, I am into building wood arrows and I have a spine tester to check the spine of wood arrows and just about any other tools needed. I can get you pretty dang close on what you need according to weight of bow, draw length and grains of arrows. Ask anytime for any advice.
