I took this picture about a month ago not too far from our house. I stopped because I knew this property held a 190" the year before. Such a waste he took the hit- his left base was almost as big as a pop can.

I would say most are about to peak out in growth this week with a few late bloomers that may add a few inches. It will be an interesting year for sure.

They seem to be super slow here in the SE corner this year, when comparing this year's pics to last couple years'.

10-Jul-17
Generally by the end of July, antlers are done growing. There are still inches to put on in the next 3 weeks.

Not a trail cam pic but they walked by at about 100 yards while I was working on a motor. Didn't seem too bothered by what I was doing.

Well with 580 acres of new ground to scout and a good friend from out west with a tag I decided to run some cameras. Deer look healthy but a little decrease in Antler growth on some of the older bucks filmed last year. Growth should be about done in my parts.

If it is him, he put on some major inches this year.

Make up your mind, Clip. Do deer not interest you any more or not? You say you may not even get a permit this year so you can hunt with your Labs more, but you're running cameras in August? :-) Yes, I'm aware you have two other deer hunters in the family, and the rare time your son can make it to a stand you want it to be as good as possible. Hope he's doing well at school.
