I have 3 fawns, in Burnett County. From all trail cam evidence they were born May 15-22. Does that tell us anything about prime hunting dates this fall?

Some say gestation length is 196 days.

Most likely those deer were bred the last week of October. Anywhere from 190-210 days it takes for a fawn to drop. The earliest fawn I saw dropped in wisconsin was on April 6th this year. I try my best to keep records from what others are seeing.

I've been getting pictures of a doe recently that looks like she's ready to explode. Probably got bred the second time around.

Nope. It can give you an idea when they were bred last fall. Nothing to do with this fall.
For what I understand the rut timing has to due with minutes of daylight and the full moon. I have compared the Deer & Deer Hunting breeding calendar with my own observations the last several years. I plan on being in the woods every day the last week of October.

There has always been a spike in big buck movement the last week of October. Some does are bred that month. Some are bred early November. It still shows peak breeding the second week of November. November the 14 to the 17 and a days after show another huge spike in big buck daylight movement. Most doe's have been bred. So they are back to covering some serious ground. There are a lot of Factors that trump deer movement in the rut. The moon is not something to bank your time in the woods off of.Especially if you only have X amounts of time to spend. I use to believe in the moon when it came to the rut. Wasted precious vacation because of weather. Trail cam evidence for me, shows great movement overhead underfoot. Even during the summer shining. That rutting moon means nothing to me. I pay attention to the weather. We all know what happens when it's 60 or 70 degrees in November. It's a lonely day most of the time.

Buck watcher. I am saying the same thing though too. I want to spend a lot of tree time that last week of October also. I still hope to fill my buck tag before that. Help others during the rut and play camera man.

Finally getting some pictures off my cards from last year, hope picture comes through as this is my first try at adding pictures. Camera on hot scrape, dates are correct, boy was I surprised when this doe checked out the scrape.
