As usual last night I was sitting by the fire with a mug of hot chocolate, a warm blanket, and my favorite reading material, the Mass Fish and Game Laws. And there's always something interesting to be found. Common knowledge that during shotgun and ml, you need 500 inches of orange on head, back, and back. Well, it turns out that if you're in a blind, that 500 inches of orange has to be visible. Evidently you're supposed to drape it over the blind or something. Yet another thing I hadn't known.

Ok let me figure this out Jeb, yesterday was humid beyond belief. You were wrapped up in a blanket, in front of fire drinking hot chocolate...............really..............

You worry too much. Go out to your shed and sharpen some broadheads or something.....

Ok I confess there was a little exaggeration with the hot chocolate etc, but the thing about the visible orange in/on the blind is accurate. One solution might be just to use an orange blind...

Interesting discovery Jeb. I'd have just worn the orange in. An easy answer, is just to wear your orange, but bring a cheap orange vest (like those dog walkers wear, which are like 5 bucks) and paracord it to the top of the blind, with a orange cap. I do that with a vest over my pack during gun season.. Im to paranoid some yahoo will see me from the back, and the orange vest protruding around my sides and shoulders and lower back and my hat wont be enough to validate "not a deer"...

Proline, I thought it added a nice touch to the post lol. Jeb, even if I don't see another deer this season I know I will have you to get me through the season ha.

Something I learned the other day while reading the NH fish and game laws... If you're a student in the state of NH, which I am (Plymouth state) and are signed up for at least 12 credits a semester, you can pay resident prices for licenses. Wish I read the book thoroughly 3 years ago!!!

They sell an orange cover for hub style blinds. I use one in RI and MA due to this regulation

Moons that would have saved you some dough for sure. I just got my Unit L and Unit M antlerless permits this week. As a resident my total combination hunting/fishing; archery; special deer archery; muzzleloader; and Unit L and Unit M special permits ran me about $200 for the season. I hunt MA and VT as well so I end up paying a lot just to deer hunt for 3 months haha. In VT on my own land I even wear at least an orange hat while walking or still hunting because getting shot at is not on my list of things to do. While deer hunting with any firearm I always put on something orange. Don't most hub blinds have those Velcro orange locator windows for all sides? I know mine did and it had a Velcro cover for bow hunting.
