Looking for suggestions for a good camping lantern.

I currently have a generic kerosene wick lantern. Part of the reason I like it is because it was cheap, old fashioned and adds heat.

Growing up we had one of those pump lanterns and also a 9 volt lamp. The lamp would die quickly and the pump one seemed finicky.

So what's your favorite of the different varieties and why?

We have the Coleman battery operated one. It runs on 4 d-cell batteries. It's been going strong for four years now without a battery change.

For inside the tent, we have one of those simple push on push off kind that a lot of folks have under their cabinets.

I have the coleman north star elite and love it. I use it alot ice fishing in my shack. i like the propane factor since I already have to have some for my heater, plus dont need to mess with fuel. Not as rugged as the old lanterns for sure. I would recommend getting a hard case for it.

For backpack hunts, look at the Luci Lights.
