First the goalposts were set VERY HIGH for long distance Pa travel by Ed Rogalski- teeton By driving his camper 275 miles from the Scranton area, thru questionable weather to possibly Not shoot due to the same weather. Ed amazing effort!! Another member Keith lived about 40 miles sw of Ed.
The Pine Hills Sportsmans club did a marvelous job. Target placements were top notch.... So much so Im almost afraid to show them online because soon all clubs would be copying them :) I Think.....5 courses with 1 being very close small game targets and another a night time coon shoot, by flashlight, which was restricted to trad bows only due to the targets being mounted on hay bales. Usually these shoots are done by a group and I believe there were 3 groups having fun :) Ron permitted my wife and I Use of their popup for the weekend-a great gesture for sure! It was decided on a whim to have a potluck supper very similar to our community dinner and it turned out great! Nice to be able to meet lots of new folks.
Special Thanks to the guys from Pitcairn-Monroeville for supplying targets for course as well. 2 hrs seperate these 2 sister clubs and both clubs have a pretty darn good compliment of UBP members. I got to meet quite a few members fom both clubs.
Weather was terrible. Friday night was nice as campers could sit around their own campfires or head down field towards "Royville". There were no children outside of Rons grand kids. Weather was a dominant issue.
There were many dogs there and all were well behaved. Porta johns were clean as new with wash stations out the doors which I Really liked. The camp shower was clean and was awesome at 6 am! It really is a nice setting and the course situation is the best! This place, this course and these folks are a MUST DO. I didnt walk the entire series of courses but when folks say there isnt a better layout and setup in the state there is no exaggeration. Teeton shot his 1st Sasquatch:) there were also Moose, bedded bull elk, Grizz, gator, fish bison, wolves etc etc etc etc
Now the rain kept our numbers low....very low with maybe 40 shooters which included wives so there really cant be an accurate count. Having said that, we took in 5 new members on saturday with some attending the shoot at Sheshequinn! We sold quite a bit of merchandise as well, more than I would have ever suspected. Art took in 7 new members the week previous at Pine Hill Trad Rendevous, so in 2 weeks we are 12 members better and a good bit of shirts and hats lighter:) Thanks to Art for filling in and giving me some to fraternize:)
Ill approach the board about next year and ill let everyone know. The same weekend will be a tentative date.
As bad as the situation was we absolutely made the best of it! You really need to shoot a course like this......seriously:)
Art- sorry to hear about your daughter- will say some prayers!
