I haven't seen much for poults either. Perhaps the rain killed many of them. I hope not, but we did a lot of rain. I have been watching just like you - fingers crossed....

Tons of them. They are hanging right next to the roads almost exclusively. Perhaps picking grit and eating bugs?

Rock County. I saw no less than 50 yesterday with groups of hens while taking the dogs for a ride. Maybe a 10 mile drive? Interestingly, I saw my first batch about 2 weeks ago, and now, they are everywhere.

I've been seeing a fair amount of really young ones lately, about the size of robins. Seems to be a lot of late broods this year.

BT+1. I make a habit of looking for turkeys daily every time out. Nothing seen of poults by me in Calumet County. Trail camera pics confirm many lone hens without young ones. Heavy rains drowned out the early nests. It did the same to re-nesting efforts. Any poults hatching recently won't have the needed weight and strength to make it through the winter. My prediction is Zone 2 numbers will be down in 2018.

Jefferson County we've seen (2) hens every couple of days in yard. One hen has a smaller brood of 2 -6, the other seems to have 6-10. The poults are starting to get pretty big.

I really think they keep the poults under their wing so to speak, until they can take flight. Like I said, southern Wisconsin, I hadn't seen them until only recently. Now they're seen daily. Got to see some burst off the side of the road after my do barked at them. They don't look like they could possibly fly to be honest with you.

Poults can fly by second week. I don't typically see a lot of them until later on in August, as they stick pretty tight to cover. I have seen a bunch of successsful broods this summer already though. (Central WI)
