Hondoland congrats nice buck! What unit?
Hondolane...nice buck, congratulations!
Here is my 2017 antelope.
Good stuff! Love seeing a family getting out there.
2017 Archery Colorado, public land opening day an hour after sunrise this bull bugled, tore up a tree and walked by feeding broadside at 6 yards. Being less than a mile from a road, downhill it was an easy decision. Got to test out multiple of my own hand forged knives and fill one of my 4 tags. Deer bear and mountain goat left, I'm off to a good start.
Congrats everyone! Looking forward to seeing more success pics!
My 2017 Colorado Pronghorn. :)
My son got it done opening day! Spot and stalk to 30 yards! Great Job Joseph
Last Saturday the 19th, Spot & Stalk. Im not good a pictures. Magnus stinger 525 grain arrows same set up for elk.
Nicely done Keith. He's sure grown from your goat hunt!
nice job Rose! The bow looks like a Wapiti (JK Chastain). What is your set-up? I shoot one too 60# at 27 Centershot arrows 250 grain Cutthroat. I know i need to come down in weight sometime and do you think 54 pounds will get the job done on most North America Big game.
Thanks Jeff, he sure has! and become quite the bowhunter! Im afraid he does not need his old man anymore, except to take pictures and help butcher!
Taken with a 1963 Bear Kodiak, my birth year bow. Nice buck Rose!
Hi Mark, When I saw your picture and bow I thought, dang, I think I've run into that guy. In 15 years I've only seen 2 people out in the woods that are shooting your kind of gear. So I'm wondering if you were hunting sheep about 4-5 years ago in 49. We were hunting elk and camped at the end of the trailhead by 12-mile and I think it was you camped in a tent not too far from us. I think it was early morning that my friend and I talked to you around camp. Nice fat cow! Brian Annen
Yep Brian, that was me and I remember talking to you guys. Never did get a sheep that year, a few close encounters, but had a memorable hunt.
Congrats all!
World's smallest 7x7 but lots of meat for the freezer. Heading up tomorrow to help my dad with his Mntn. Goat tag. Life is good!
Opening morning OTC public land....
My Mom, Carol Ashurst, with 2017 Colorado Pronghorn Buck.
Goelk...Yep...I shoot a Wapiti Takedown Recurve 55# at 28 with Easton Axis Arrows and thunderhead broadheads. I know many people that have harvested the Big 8, 9 and 10 with a Wapiti at right around 45-50 pounds....All comes down to shot placement.
Thanks bowhunter. Im going to come down to 54 from 60 pounds. Great job Mom
Nice goats Ladies!! Congrats
First traditional elk, unbelievable experience!
Lucky enough to catch up to this guy today. Hope everyone is having a fun season!

My dad's Mountain Goat hunt was a success!!
DIY public land bull. We made a heavy pack 5 mile trip into a wilderness area to setup camp after arriving in Colorado only a few hours prior. A short nap was had after camp was set up and we headed up the mountain around 3:00. An hour later our first bugle of the trip, down into a dark timbered draw, was returned by a squeaky bugle most likely made by a bedded bull. Over the next hour we picked our way down into that draw and made calls from several locations and could tell he had gotten up from his bed and was bugling really good at this point, but still not breaking away and coming to us. We had to hold up a few times due to poor wind but finally made it to small finger ridge that ran into the draw. At this point we got an excited bugle response to our call and could then tell we were within a distance that would require some investigation from the bull. He slipped into 25 yards without almost any noise but a small stick snap made me alert that something was close. After a few minutes of the silent treatment on his end, he decided to investigate the calls coming from behind me a little further and made a move giving away his location. With his head dipping behind cover I was able to draw and was waiting for him to step into the opening at 17 yards. As soon as his front leg was visible the arrow was on its way and a few post shot cow calls stopped him around 50 yards. It was at that spot where he laid down and expired. It was unbelievable. We hadn't even been in the mountains for 12 hours and we already had a bull on the ground! An awesome 6x6 that grosses 319 3/8".
Heck of a bull and story!!!
A GREAT DAY ON THE MOUNTAIN!
A GREAT DAY ON THE MOUNTAIN!
I had a very fun hunt made even more special when I arrived back at camp to discover that my 17 year old son had finally connected on the buck he had been stalking for a week!
This is where he fell
This is where he fell
First ever elk! DYI public land, called him in for a 40 yard shot, double lung pass thru, he went about 150 yards and fell over! Not a bad first elk, decent 6x6...
Shot a moose on thursday. While his palms lack width, his tines are tremendous. Really a unique and cool moose. Still have some time now to put an elk on the ground.
I got home and was catching up with my 11 year old daughter and asked her what she did while I was gone. She replied, "We prayed a lot that you would get a moose, and come home safe". Thanks to the lord for answering family prayers, and guiding my arrow straight and true!
I do want to say thanks also to Scott George, world class moose caller, and the 5 guys who showed up to help pack him out. Can't say thanks enough as I was really worried about getting a giant critter out of the field. Also, thanks to the guys on bowsite that provided intelligence, advice and support.
Every hunter I met in field told me if I get one down to call on them for help. It was humbling, redeeming, and faith building.
Bonecollector congradulations where did you hit him? From the pic it looks way back. Im sure that was a exit right.
Awesome Job Steve!! Very unique bull for sure.
First bull with a bow, unit 76
Congrats to all the successful hunters this year. I went solo into the back-country and was unsuccessful...other that accomplishing the solo hunt.
Well i had 4 chance at elk but wind won everytime. I really had a chance at a 7x7 and i hope he makes it thru rifle and winter.. I did connect on a doe deer with my recurve and forgot to take pics.

That's a sexy buck right there! Wow he's pretty.
First bull ever!
First bull ever!
Here is my first bull ever taken. Called him in to 33 yds. First year hunting with a bow! Im hooked from now on!
Are those dreadlocks or is that picture playing tricks on my eyes? Nice bull
I got my elk Friday morning. Packed in three miles and the bulls were screaming. Tough pack out but I had lots of friends come help.
Randy Rider was able to shoot a bull this year on my place. I was able to confirm my kubota L3901 is adequate for elk packing.
If you know Randy, tell him congrats. I am sure he wished his son was along with him for the hunt.
Heck of a bull there ski & skin.

I have wanted to post on this annual thread for years. Finally got one big enough to show on 9-13-2017.
My wife finally got her 1st big bull! Public land. Pics don't do him justice, the mass is incredible. Have to wait 60 days for official score but taxidermist estimates 315-320 after drying!
Once in a lifetime Colorado shiras.
Grug340, congrats to your wife! Great looking Bull. What was the circumference on that right side? Looks huge.

Great shot RogBow. Perfect!!!!!
Zachinco Thanks. Wasn't able to take measurements. But it was bigger than a pop-can. We took him straight to the taxidermist who says he's right around 320in. 46 more days and we'll have all the official numbers from the Pope and Young scorer.
My son Cody with his Colorado bear, shot with his longbow at a distance of 1 yard, yep that’s no typo, 3 feet pretty exciting!
Good job Cody! Did you have to lean back to clear the broad head when you drew back. Good pic dad!!
My 2017 Colorado Bighorn Sheep Ewe
Congrats Rose, you have had an awesome year so far!
Way to go Rose.keep going Lyle and Patt
Thats awesome Rose!! Congrats on a great season.
Thats awesome Rose!! Congrats on a great season. Ooops X2 i guess. lol
Nice going Rose, congrats !
Wow awesome rose how long did you have to wait for tag
Fantastic Rose- super accomplishment! Your smile says it all.
Nine day DIY public land wilderness solo hunt. One of the most challenging and rewarding hunts I have done. Hunting takes on a new meaning when there is nobody for miles to help you out or cell phone service. Nine days without seeing another person is different in this fast paced world. You come out a little different (for the better) then when you went in. The only negative is freeze dried meals get old after day four!
Quite a collection of awesome critters! Congratulations to all the successful bowhunters in Colorado!
Treeline what about your awesome bull, congrats to you!
Hell, Matt, I’m more impressed by Cody’s bear!
Still have never had an opportunity to nock an arrow to be able to shoot at one in Colorado - after almost 30 tags!!!
Im in the same boat tavis, ive had a lot of tags and a few chances, but just cant bring one home, a bear is all I need for my Eight! oh well I get more excited about the boys shooting critters anymore!
September 5th, 11 yards came running to a cow call, wapiti takedown
Spikebow Nice bull and nice bow! What was your setup?
5 Attempts with a Bow, 40 yd broadside and no shot as two goats were behind him.

Tag number 3 filled Great fall.
You had an awesome season, Paul! Congratulations!
This isn't a bowkill, but I'm pretty proud of my daughter. She hasn't been out much, she's been getting that degree the last few years. Gave us some time to build some points.
first season in Colorado first black bear - 9 yards first elk - 25 yards
Biggest deer I have ever killed in Colorado! Also, only deer I have ever killed in Colorado. ;)

Nebraska 2017 whitetail no. 2. Evening hit, morning recovery, and a cat (bobcat) claimed and covered it. Very creepy.

I couldn't have written a better script. On a frosty, blue sky morning, a doe led this fine buck right passed my stand. Though the shot was high, he ran 90 yards, stopped, and in an instant legs were pawing air. Bursting with glee, I was jumping up & down on my treestand. All those teeth-chattering days paid off.
On Nebraska whitetail No. 2, I was able to recover the animal, only losing some shoulder meat. My first thought was mountain lion (which Nebraska does have), but when I saw the small quantity of meat eaten, I assumed bobcat. My son and I both saw a bobcat in different locations. They seem numerous in riparian areas.
S57 ewe! number 4 on his way to the Big 8!
