All of my equipment is laid out and ready to pack. Leaving for the high country on Wed. morning for a hike up to my spike camp area. Hard to believe that eleven months have gone by so quickly since the end of the last archery elk season. The thirty day season seems like "forever" but we all know each day can slip by so quickly. Good luck to all and hunt smart. my best, Paul

Good luck.

All my gear is ready to be packed. Dehydrating the last half of my meals this week and getting them vac sealed and ready for packing. I don't go up to my unit until 9/1 but have 10 days dedicated to the hunt this year after getting robbed of my archery season last year. Really looking forward to getting out there. My girlfriend is about sick of hearing me talk about elk and elk hunting!

Paul, your garage is WAY too clean! That takes all the fun out of it, I kinda shoveled out a corner where I've finally started packing things AND I've got the little guys walking by every few minutes pulling things out of the pile "hey Dad what's this" as they go wandering away... Should be an interesting season.
Good luck out there!

Good luck getting all that into your pack Paul! Kidding as I am sure some of that will stay in the truck. It really helps to lay our all your gear as you pack. My living room looks like your floor... not quite as organized thou

I need to do that tonight, and then leave in the morning for Arizona. Lots of meetings at work today so it should pass rather quickly.

Not me, we're on baby-watch, I think I'll be doing a whole lot more fishing than hunting this September...

Thanks for that....spent an hour unpacking and repacking my gear for this weekend after readying this post. Good news.....I lightened my load. Now its more of a matter of remembering where I've rat holed things away when I go to look for them..........

My pack is ready to grab after work. I'll be sitting in camp Friday night ready to sleep with the elk.

I think my bow is hanging in the garage and I found my grunt tube yesterday. Hunting from a cabin this year so I don't need much.

I just brought the trailer over that is packed with most of my gear. Loading up tomorrow with my hunting gear and food. Will fill the water tank up on Friday before I pull out for two weeks of elk and deer hunting.

WFM, where are you camping? Would be cool to know so we could clean up all the trash you leave behind when you head out to hunt. Nothing worse than coming upon an abandoned camp in the wilderness. Slobs...

pulling a unit 76 archery elk tag just yesterday kinda messed up my plans for an easy close to home day-hunt opening day. A good problem to have, of course.

Gradually making a pile of stuff on the garage floor. We are still 3 weeks away. I'll start lining everything out with my list this weekend. Nice setup whiskey. My trailer won't be making the trip this year, an old m101a1, but the jeep will have the RTT for our mobile camp.

Mostly packed, loading food in the morning and then leaving in the afternoon from work. Got lucky on a leftover deer tag a couple weeks ago so I'm heading in blind. Good luck to everyone.

Leaving in 3 weeks to hunt the last week of archery season. The pile of gear is mostly complete. Just need to pack food and do a final sharpen on the broadheads. The hardest part is not buying new gear at the last minute! Seems I always spend money that way. Hope Gene Taylor's doesn't have a big sale when I drive by.

Just handed my pack, meals, equipment and bow to my buddy who is driving out from Virginia this Friday with his uncle and cousin, I fly out to join them 9/6......can't wait. It's been 3 years for me but got a huge bull last time and I am so ready for this. My wife is just laughing at me, she says I am like a little kid at Christmas.

New wife and I head out the 14th. She has never been to the mountains since she was a little kid. I hope she can adjust to the altitude well and enjoy the hunt. I feel I got really lucky to marry a pioneer type women who loves to hunt, fish and grow her own food. I do wish I could have drawn us a tag but we are otc this year and going to try around Steamboat.
