In the afternoon, we switched to another spot in central CT, on the walk in I jumped a doe, Settled into my stand and get a text that my buddy had already seen 4 deer. At 6:20 I heard movement behind me, I turned slowly and saw a deer browsing in the thicket. I watched as it headed back in the direction it came from that's when I saw his rack, gave a light grunt, and all the sudden a 6 pointer comes running out right under me.

Well, that worked out for me, and the bigger buck followed him, at 10 yards he stopped and I drilled him. He took off, tail tucked, and I heard him crash 5 seconds later. The 6 pointer hung around while I waited, and gathered my stuff up and calmed down. I snapped a couple pictures of him and got down. I found my x-bow bolt, but zero blood trail, went to the last spot I saw him and 10 feet away there he was. The shot took out his heart, was slight quartering to me, and the exit wound was blocked by the crease in his off side leg. He is a big bodied 7 pointer. Could not ask for a better first day out!
