All Traditional Archers (recurve, longbow, and selfbow Archers) are welcome to shoot with us, on an outdoor, 30 target course using mostly Rinehart Targets. Shots will not be "gimmies", but we doubt there will be anything over 100 yards. Trees, obstacles, possible 55 gallon steel drums, or simply line-of-sight 10 yard shot COULD be encountered during this shoot. We don't know yet, and we won't know until we're done setting up the course.....!!
We do hope to see our friends, and maybe their friends, and some new yet-to-be friends! It's about the bow, the arrows, the camaraderie, the cheers and groans heard o're the hillsides....the chance to meet up and visit, and contemplate all-things-Archery.
Here's the full year's schedule, and the directions sheet.
And here is YOUR invitation to join us: YOU ARE INVITED!!! PLEASE JOIN US!!!!
See you Sunday! Signed, The Crew
Weather forecasts for the weekend ARE saying cold rain for Saturday's setup for the Crew, and snow flurries with colder temps for Sunday, the day of the shoot.
Alverton, Pennsylvania is lower in elevation compared to where the Manly Mountain Men hail from, so let's keep the fingers crossed that 31, 219, and 30 are clear.
Hearing that caravan of singing Mountainly Archers coming down the hill is worth every bent arrow, as they arrive to the final strains of "One Bottle Of Beer On The Wall"....
Archers: the day approacheth: are YOU ready??
Oop's..
I'll be in the mountains at Bear camp:)
The Crew would especially like to thank those regular attendees who brought with them, or invited new Archers to attend. The number of 1st-time attendees on a day as "weather confused" as today (and as close to a busy holiday week) was great to see. From the comments and reports as folks came into the clubhouse during the midpoint or when finished, it sounded like The Crew succeeded in putting together a fairly acceptable shoot.
We had to contend with A LOT OF WATER all over the clubhouse property, so we just adjusted the course to deal with it. For December, and whatever weather we deal with then, the course will probably be different. That's what we try to do...to mix things up as usual!
The Crew hopes everyone has a Great Thanksgiving Holiday, and during those dozing moments when the tryptophans kick in Thursday afternoon, just think about today's shoot, and smile! (Your holiday guests will wonder what you're dreaming about....)
Who knows?:::: Maybe even that new friend of RC will visit in December!!!!!
Ya just never know....
Until next month: THANK YOU! Signed, The Crew of "Strictly Sticks"
