If it makes anybody feel better, it took me 5 months to find this one.

14 months later. I was on the ground and at last light he gave me a 20 yrd shot(after one flip of the CAN) arrow deflected off tiny sapling and hit him high shoulder. No blood, months of searching I came up empty. Buddy of mine who also hunts area found him. I am honored and greatful to have him. I thank this guy who gave him to me every time I see him.

Least you found him. What did you learn that might help us be better hunters?

I honestly don’t know on that one. I think it was ‘97. Looked like a great shot. Pass thru. Lots of blood. He ran back up hill into the bedding area he’d just came from. Gave him a little bit and went and looked. Nothing? Blood ran out . I went into panic mode. Called friends and looked with flashlights. Went back next day. Nothing. Now I’m feeling guilty for wasting everybody’s time. Looked myself for a couple more days. Finally found him in March, shed hunting. I don’t know how we missed him. He was upside down in a thicket. Oddly enough, I got another buck the following year, same spot. He died in almost the exact same spot!?!?

Got lucky with rodents, and coyotes. Attached to the skull was the full skeleton. All layed out perfectly, not touched!

Those are both beautiful. I'd probably wind up being anal like you 2 and keep looking for them.
