They need to model, and expect/challenge US (given the best leadership occur's through those who serve it) to actually respect different opinions and ideas and be willing to shake hands with those coming to given issues from totally different places. They/US would need to be willing to be proud to stand with those whom we do not understand and with whom we disagree. They/US need to have empathy and gratitude. They/US need to be adults - not by age, but by actual maturity. They/US would need to be capable of seeing the good in people even when we may disagree.
It's a nice concept Six... I'd love to see it be possible...
"who have high ethical standards - NOT the same belief's that any individual or group has"
I guess by that statement you are ruling out Almighty God, individual that he is, in his unique relationship to his creation.
We sure do need a better class of humans in charge of this country, though - or at least in charge of the political system... Public Servants (rather than money-grubbers) would be a good start... but only the power-hungry are attracted, and they seem incapable of using their power/influence for the General Good.
Guess they missed the lesson on Feed my Sheep....
Really? Who do you think is draining the swamp on issues of moral decay, it ain't Trump.
Hillary, Franken, Conyers, Comey, Lois Lerner, Bill Clinton, Charlie Rose, Weinstein, Spacey, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, all in the public arena, but you don't want to credit God for outing them, just happenstance, right? Your God is too small, near as I can tell.
" If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2Chronicles 7:14
I, for one, sincerely pray that enough of God's people are humbled, in prayer, and turning to God, to the end that our country is healed.
Our leaders reflect societies values.
"When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall. Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he." Proverbs 29:16-18

What have YOU read lately?
Just a thought.
Ok, the wise guy in me is done. (Please note I'm kidding round with the above stuff)
Wild Bill, all love brother. The good book doesnt have the same impact for all comers. Some may just have a different spiritual approach.
I didnt leave out god for any specific reason - nor did I think to add him/her to my above comment for any specific reason. I just dont think of religion as something that should impact my ethics/morality. I see them as things that can coexist and could relate to each other... But are not the primary drivers of each other. That's just me. Certainly didn't mean to offend anyone by not mentioning God in my post.
Happy Christmas - and happy tail end of hunting season! Will
