Hi guys, I am heading up next year for a hunt in Brown County. How is the hunting in this area and when can you start seeing some rut activity?

There’s no deer left in Illinois, try Iowa. Seriously, never hunted Brown, but if you’re here the last week in October or the first week of November, you’ll be in good shape.

I've been hunting in Brown County for 38 years. What jstephens said is accurate. Actually any time from then right up until Thanksgiving is good. What's probably the biggest factor other than the rut is how the corn harvest is coming along. If most of the corn is out you're definitely in the driver's seat.
And there's some REALLY big deer there too. Not behind every tree of course, but you have as good a chance at a big one there as anywhere.
