Has anyone actually seen something hunting that they couldn’t explain. I was watching one of those Bigfoot hunter shows on TV. The guy finds a dead deer and says it’s a Bigfoot kill? He hears “tree knocks” (Bigfoot hitting trees). Sounds like branches breaking to me. They are all over the forest floor, the gotta fall sometime. With millions of hunters, and trail cameras, where is the proof

I heard some weird shit this morning sounded like someone yelling in the middle of the woods. I thought of that show when I heard it thought I might kill bigfoot wasn't killing any deer

Not hunting have I seen weird stuff,.. but!!! ,..

I work in one of the most haunted places in Ma,.. I shit you not folks,.. follow the link above and scroll down to Belchertown/ second one down " Tadgell School. "

Tadgell School is where I report to work every day,.. It is an old building, part of the Belchertown State Hospital for the Feeble Minded, est 1922,.. (read insane). Where Mass sent all of it's folks with "issues" back in the day. The worst part is Tadgell was the docs/infirmary/School building . Where people were sent from all the various sprawling complex/buildings when they were not well. (read: were ready to die). I work in a mostly abandoned building where the insane went to die for many, many, many, years,.. I am not sure the exact number ,.. but my guess is many 1000's of crazy people passed away,.. in the building that I work at.

I work in the basement,.. an old bomb shelter and Command Control Center for western Ma., back in the crazy A Bomb era of the 60/70's. The outside of my building has an old bomb shelter sign with the radiation symbol on it. Will post photo tomorrow for you all to chuckle at. Concrete wall are huge thick, even the window screens are hyperthick metal screen mesh.,.

Anyways,.. You can guess I have felt some odd things while walking the deep back of the basement of this building exploring/scouting.

Follow my link,. scroll down to Belchertown and then read the post on Tadgell under the general state grounds post,... note the article is old ,.. really old and the school is longer running,.. long since shut down... now only the computer guys are there,.. in "The Bunker," as it is known.. it is the shit you would think of for a horror story you guys ,. I kid you not

LOLOLOL

There are many sites that mention Tadgell school,.. here is another

BB, you have resume's out? :)

I debate this. Guilty pleasure is the show finding bigfoot. The science lover in me laughs about it. I mean basically everywhere they go they believe everything they encounter is a bigfoot or related to a bigfoot. It's as if someone needed to create a living definition of "confirmation bias"! But, there's that little kid in me that "wants" to believe some how a giant ape is wandering around the woods. It's a cool concept.

But, with literally thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of cameras out and working and around the deer or other critters the bigfoot supposedly enjoys... The odds of one NEVER making a mistake seem so high that it seems to disqualify their existence.

It's a lot like mountain lions (hope I dont ruffle feathers with this). I'm certain, especially with the verified lion scats, tracks, DNA and even a cat hit by a car in CT a couple years ago that they occasionally do a walk about through... But it's hard to believe they have any sort of breeding population given no one has ever managed a trail cam pic in the north east? That said, I'd bet my house that there are better odds of a breeding mt lion population in MA than big foot exists :)

I've heard branches and trees in the wind that sometimes sound like a buck grunt. I swear one hunt the trees sounded like the alien from the movie Predator. The one time I hunted in California I saw an animal I think might have been a badger. That's about as weird as I've experienced.

If you hear something in the woods that sounds like a woman screaming, that’s a mountain lion. You should leave.

I’ve never seen or heard anything unexplainable.

As for ghosts in Belchertown. I would think that some kind of proof of afterlife would be reassuring.

However, I have experienced hunting paranoia. The hogs in CA can be the size of an upright piano. They’re also smart and aggressive. The boars will break off from fleeing sow and piglets, make a mile long circle and come up behind you and attack. So you developed this fear, always listening behind you. Half the time the moving is some other small animal, rabbit/squirrels/bumped deer. The other half it’s a 300-600lb hog coming specifically to kick your butt.

Have fun out there!

When I was 16 ...in the winter one night.... something broke the barn door off our barn..i had a painted pony that something attacked and ate the rear quarter out..killing my horse in the process... the only evidence were large tracks , which looked bipedal in the snow, with a stride of about 3 feet between each step...this was on the Southbridge / Woodstock Ct. line.....we had many weird happenings for the year following...then everything stopped as quickly as it started...

I heard some shit bowhunting early archery in Plymouth Nh last year. Wish I still had the video I took while I was sitting on the ground, bow in hand, petrified. Lost that phone after a few too many on the golf course lol.

Anyways, I heard what sounded like a few deer running in. Then I can hear it climb the tree. It's making the weirdest bark/yelp I've ever heard. I googled every animal sound you could ever imagine, and none of them sounded close. The closest sound was a fox, but it climbed the tree! Unless it chased something up the tree and was making the noise on the ground?? No idea. I showed so many people the video, no body had ever heard anything like it. Man I wish I didn't lose that video

A friend of mine was rifle hunting in The Forks, Maine. He saw a Bigfoot. Turns out it was a big French Canadian guy in a black skimobile suit, going through a gut pile, looking for the heart and liver

The Death Wind, on the morning over November 5th this year it was absolutely breathless still, extremely cold, heavy gray sky. I was home, my brother in his tree stand in N.Y., at about 730 am a gust of wind came through and my brother told my it was so strong that he stood up and grabbed the tree until it was over. Said it scared him, then back to the eerie calmness. At 745am my Dad called me to say that our Mom had been transported to the hospital after suffering a heart attack and had passed away. When I called my brother in N.Y. all he said to me was that he knew something happened. I believe we all get that weird feeling at some point.

Monster land in leominster has anything and everything you can imagine! I've heard of bigfoot sightings and UFO's and Aliens in those woods. Steve you know what I'm talking about! That's why it's called monsterland! I think there's a mountain lion with ape head too.

From: Will

Moons - foxes actually climb pretty well. It's a surprising skill, but part of what makes them so tricky for hounds. They are not likely to just climb up and get treed, but will totally climb trees to escape or get a squirrel that's running up one or something.

Dean, I live about a mile down the road from "monsterland". ride and trail run in there some times - less the last few years given a lot more sand mining has happened... There had been talk of trying to put Amazon there or on the old landfill off the Leominster connector... Sort of funny to think about! There are some really nice bucks that hang in there... I'm pretty convinced the stories were created to scare off hunters so a few select guys could keep the area to themselves :) ha ha ha!

I have heard that fishers sound like that as well. The only reason I know a porcupine does it too is because I watched one in a the tree as it did it...

Interesting! I have never even seen a live porcupine. Come to think of it, while I've heard the sound, I've never actually watched a fisher make it.

Jeb, when I hunted Quabbin this year I saw a very large downed tree. I thought it looked like a good place to post up for a while as it provided nice cover. As I drew closer to the end of the hollowed out trunk I noticed something moving inside. BIG porcupine. Needless to say I moved on. Could have been pretty ugly if I hadn't noticed him LOL.

Years ago I took my son out Turkey hunting for the opener. I had scouted out this bird for a month and I knew everything that bird did. So I had made a perfect blind with natural resources around a small white pine. That morning as we got to the spot he asked me what was on top of the pine? It was dark so I just brushed it off as if it was nothing. We got settled in for the hunt with our backs against the tree when I heard a noise above my head. The noise was a porcupine climbing down! Almost on my head! I bailed but my son didn't and the poor kid got quilled!! All over his arm and hand. So to pass the time before the giant tom came by I was pulling quills!!! The bird went 21lbs... Another interesting day in the woods!

From: Moons22
19-Dec-17
Hahah funny story deanman! At least you guys got the bird!

A tip for pulling out porcupine quills. Take wire cutters and clip the end of the quills before you yank them out. They are filled with air so by clipping them you deflate them and they come out much easier. The neighbors dog learned that the hard way. The little girl came running over saying the dog got "but by a porcupine!" I went down there and yanked them all out. After telling a few people about it they were saying "you didn't clip the quills!?" Sorry dog...

alright, seeing as this is the late season freaky shit thread, here we go. I live directly across the street from Abram's Rock in Swansea Village. I have lived and been in these woods my entire life. For a brief history primer this area was heavily populated with Wampanoags before the settlers and was the first town burned to the ground at the beginning of the King Phillip War. I live in a house on the spot of a house burned down during this. I have a trace Wampanoag ancestry and friends who are active in the present Wampanoag community then, and very much a history buff. "TWICE" in the last 10 years my wife and I have entered the woods for a hike and as we got close to Abram's Rock we could here native American drumming and Chanting. The first time I was so excited, I was like" quick lets hike over to the rock the Wampanoags must be having a ceremony". But, as we get closer the drumming and chanting begins to fade. 2 minutes later we arrive at the rock and there is no one there. When we get out i call a friend to see what ceremony or gathering there I may have missed, and he says " there is nothing going on around there that i know of". eeeekks. Flash forward two years. Another September and we are returning form a hike with the dogs and can hear the drumming and chanting again. We both joke that this can't be happening again. Half way to the rock where we are hearing the drumming and chanting my chocolate lab starts whining and acting odd. When i turn down the trail to head to Abram's Rock she wont come and stops. Just then, a couple of young walkers emerge coming from that direction and I ask if there is a Native American gathering or ceremony going on at the rock? They reply, "We just left there there is no one there" They had been on top of the rock for about a 1/2 hour. eeeeekkkkkk So i walk down by myself and confirm no none there. I have since learned I am not the only one this has happened to. No Squatches though so I feel normal about sharing this.

Crazy Bowandspear!

No squatch in this story, but scary none the less. To begin my 2nd hunting season I decided to bait bears out in the White Mountains. Much to my surprise my bait was getting smashed and had two bears on the bait my first night in the stand, also my first time ever in a tree stand by the way. It got dark and a bear was still on the bait with no shot, shit! It's now pitch black and I don't know what to do, so I just climb down and the bear just runs away. Phew, I'll make it out alive if I can make the mile hike back. Half way through the hike in the pitch black I see two eyes staring directly at me. I freeze, heart pounding out of my chest. There is a bear directly in front of me just waiting to pounce on my scrawny ass and rip me to shreds. I pull my 44 mag from my hip and hold it pointed in the direction of the two eyes staring at me and stand still shitting my pants for 5-10 minutes. I start thinking, "man why hasn't this thing moved." So I start slowly inching forward to see what the hell this bear is doing, still holding my gun steady on the looming eyes. I'm now just a few feet from the eyes shining brightly from my head lamp when I realize it's two pieces of mica reflecting from a large boulder.

From: bowandspear

HFC so funny. I once had a stump off in the shade have me pinned down not moving in stand for 10 -15 minutes. As the sun was rising and beginning to filter through the canopy I heard a branch break and turned as I stood and swore my target buck was staring at me from 30 yds away 1/2 covered in shade. I was even hearing steps. I didn't so much as blink for 10-15 minutes. Then as filtering sunlight moved slightly 2 squirrels playing grab ass came running out from under it. I grabbed the binocs from backpack and laughed pretty hard at myself. Speaking of stumps? I can believe no one has taken Will's Stump + Young Record yet.

B and S. That's some awesome stuff right there. Sort of reminds me of a bigfoot research show that was on Nat Geo or something. A British guy was narrating which made it all sound smart :). Any way, he went round to people who had collected evidence or had encounters. He toured the area, and with the guy who had hair from a big foot and was 100% convinced that it was big foot hair... The show got it DNA tested. Ugh Oh... Black bear fur. I actually felt for the guy - he was legit distraught about this discovery... But at least that guy thought it was an animal and not a cyborg or alien! Ha!

Isn’t that dumbass show canceled. I remember reading something that the producer said you guys better find something soon , or the show is cancelled. Those guys have been to every state trying the same tactics that never work. I’ve never heard them mention wind direction, or scent control, or anything resembling a good hunter’s plan.
