Thanks guys for all the nice comments. Yes It was very cold for sure. I knew I had a chance at him because of the cold temps and I figured if I could sit for the last two hrs without losing feeling in my extremities I would be in the game. He had been showing up on camera in daylight a lot last 10 days. Well, as it turned out It was close because when he appeared I was really fighting the cold. In fact I was shaking so badly I actually missed him with first shot. Probably a combination of buck fever and the cold. LOL. He really didn't run off to far at the shot because he was unsure of what happened. There were other deer around me so, when they all calmed down he came back to check 3 or 4 does that were right under me and that was his mistake. Sometimes its just better to be lucky I guess. Happy New Year to all!!

Sorry didn't mean to disturb you Pat! LOL..but I do put a lot of boot leather in searching for the biggest bucks in my area. They are out there but not easy to find and harder to get a shot at. This year I was blessed and actually got a shot at #1 and I spined him but never got him. He went down for about 10 seconds and then managed to drag himself off, regain his feet and walk away. He has been back on my cameras since but not consistently.
I got a shot at #2 in early Dec right after that first snow fall. He was in and out of range a couple of times in about a half hr period dogging some does. He finally stood broadside at about 30 yrds just before dark and my shot was deflected by some unseen branches. He too has been back on camera since but usually disappears in late Dec
