....but don't chat on the Wisconsin forum. Look at the people that took the time to grade the state of our deer herd, and you'll see names you don't recognize? It means they care about hunting enough to grade the State, but are still shy. Can you imagine if half of them would join in?
Well, I'd like to personally invite those lurkers, and I'm here to tell you, that the state of this group has changed considerably. We'd love to have even more participation. Of course we don't all agree, but the attitude has really changed!
The Wisconsin board is one of the only well used state sites....click on other states and ZIP....nothing.
Where's the Lady Bowhunters ?
Think back to your school days....This forum is like a school classroom. Every class has discussions on many topics. Not everyone participates. If a classroom has thirty students, usually only a few will regularly participate in the topic of the day. There are many reasons for this. For example: Every individual in a classroom comes from different homes with different thoughts and values, some kids are shy and don't want to draw attention to themselves, some kids don't want to give the wrong answer, and then be admonished for their thoughts, some kids think they know all the answers, some kids learn from just listening and not saying anything, some kids like to hear themselves talk.....there are many more. The Wisconsin Forum is very much like a classrooom...with one exception....We all want to be here. We're just not all active participants.
The fact that we all do not agree is what creates a great forum. It gives character to the threads and posts, and allows for discussions where ideas are brought forth and we all learn from one another. The differences we have and the way we express them have to be handled carefully and with respect. It's okay to disagree but do it without name calling, lo-brow criticism, and a demeaning attitude.
Compared to others I have not been a member of this forum for very long, but I understand it used to be a pretty vengeful place. Presently, I think we all are doing pretty well and I hope it stays that way. And with the new year, I hope newcomers arrive to share their ideas and what has become a great forum. Lets keep it that way. As Pete said above, WELCOME...
I have been on the forum a lot, since I am in rehab and have a lot of time on my hands,,, that will change by spring, have a million things to do, once I get released to do them,,,,,,,,, With that said, what I like about this forum, is simply to learn on how others hunt, what is going on around the state etc.......
I just wish, when someone mentioned deer hunting or conditions, or what they are seeing etc, they would say what county they are in, the state is not created equal
The state is not created equal. Well stated. I guess for the newer people it is hard to tell where anyone is at or where they hunt. Back when there were not so many of us we kind of knew that stuff about each other. Good point now. Things like my handle, Jeff in MN. I am in the Hayward Wisconsin area now but did not want to change my handle. So when I am reporting from or about out of state I generally say where I am, but probably not in every post. I still deer hunt Minnesota and sometimes Iowa and Kansas. If I am talking about Wisconsin I generally mean the Hayward area.
The reason I stopped lurking and joined was because I seen a lot of knowledgeable hunters on the forum, and I agree would be nice if everyone kind of mentioned where they are from so we know the conditions they may be hunting etc.

I used to be very active in Bowsite. I still look at the site everyday. But all of the anti-this or anti-that bickering put a bad taste in my mouth. I still post every now and then but not like before. I will keep watching and add my 2 cents from time to time.... Nick- Mosinee
