Shot with the savage 20 gauge bolt action. If you guys deer hunt with a shotgun this is a must buy. The BEST gun you can use in this state with all the laws. I have a leupold scope on it. Can consistently hit a pie plate at 300 yards. Buy it you won't regret it

Moons, Savage 220? I agree, bought one about 3 years ago and very happy with it. Let a friend borrow it last year for a week. This year he used his own :-)

Moons - c'mon, stop shooting those Dukes of Hazard arrows at coyotes... :) Did you call it in?
Serious question- what load? I thought those bolt action guns were pretty much made for slugs?

I passed on a fox Friday evening, I stopped shooting them a few years ago. they don't kill deer so I got no issue with them. I still have a grey fox pelt in my freezer I need to get tanned lol

I just want a red and grey fox mount and I will pass on the rest. I like fox and they have a hard enough time dealing with the coyotes. Doesn’t seem to be a ton of them around here anymore.

J - that first one is cool looking, really dark head. Do you pelt all of them? All at camp? With all the bears you guys shot and the yote control, your going to have SW CT deer numbers in a few years :)

I doubt that will....i shoot 6-10 Coyotes every year and we keep seeing more and more bears every year.....less and less deer. one of the yotes was very blonde, the other was typical grey and dark phases we see around here. I gave them both to one of my employees who wanted the pelts.

I have a question! I'm thinking of going after a big dog behind my house. I want to use my new Ruger 10-22. Any special shot I should be using? I am near some other houses so the shotgun and BP are out. Thank you in advance. Let's Go

With a 22 I would aim for head only. Coyote are tough.

Thanks Spike, That was my thought too. I was wondering if there is any special shot. I know the choices are limited. Let's Go

Good day with the dogs
Got this today from my buddy, all in 4N. Perfect conditions, fresh track in road and drop dogs on it. All dead by noon. These guys are serious hound hunters. Buddy said quick runs, and coyotes bayed up fast.

Guys, they are specific coyote dogs. These guys hunt MA, N.Y. and New Hampshire. They work seasonally in their full time jobs and hunt like crazy in the down season. They have people calling them in MA when they find out their cat was killed by a coyote.
From: xi

DFA, can't run bears in MA with hounds. Here in Western MA , nobody really wants to deal with a bear in the September season when it's 90° outside.
