How's the afterlife BBB? Doing ok not making the trek to the desk every day? Enjoy the change... Hopefully you dont get to busy - I swear, people retire and get busier!
OK Bob now that your retired what is the real truth about your company’s tools? Ha
Will, thanks for asking. One week in and still trying to adjust to every day being Sat.
Spike, best tools in the world.
That's awesome bob - enjoy the heck out of it! Good to hear!
Enjoy. B.B. I haven’t desided when I will retire yet but as long as they don’t bother me I might stay till the end of the year lol
BBB, Got time some weekend to call Coyotes at my private land spots?
Wandering around the house in bunny slippers eating oreos same as the office..lol..
Nehunter, sounds great. Can't do it today but let me know what works for you
Steve, that's the way I felt until our young people mgr made things crazy. Then I decided I'd rather put on my fuzzy slippers and chase coyotes in the off season. It kind of feels like someone you know dies, you know, working Bob passed away, he's gone.
Just don't let retired-Bob die. I had an 80+ year old guy who still worked tell me "every day in life you need a purpose". All of his friends who retired but didn't replace work with a new purpose (work, golf, travel, etc) were no longer on the top side of the grass.
N8, couldn't agree more. Here are the things I like to do. Golf, deer hunting, elk hunting, fish ( may buy a boat and chase stripers and blues around the sound), ski, wood working, hiking, running, spinning, drink good wine, rides in my Vette, travel, help my daughters with their houses, gardening, and may even get another Springer spaniel. But Stanley Works Bob is still gone??
Bob, It's a life sentence.
I heard someone called it a "second spring of life". For me, Fridays lost importance.
BBB.. For anyone to say that they, or you, will be bored when they, or you, retire..shame on them.
I have been retired just over one year. I have plenty to do through out the year. And, if we have a day like today..it's light raining now, I'll just relax by the gas fireplace and watch TV.
I'm the type that keeps busy, whether it's work or being retired. Since I retired on 1/12/18 I been to VT to paint my buddies condo, went skiing with him at Mt Snow, made a hallway bench and an organizer shelf for my daughters house in Canton, MA, changed the oil in 3 of my 4 vehicles, went on a hike/scouting trip, cut down and cut up two trees in Hebron yesterday, repaired my snowblower, have been to the YMCA 3 times spinning and swimming, and today I'm sewing a seat cushion for the bench, repairing my chainsaw and going to the YMCA at 4pm for spinning and some basketball. So I'm not worried about things to do. Stanley has also asked me to come back in a month or two to work on a project for about the next 12 months, but only agreed to part time and lots of money :)
Bob - if you are going to do contract work, set very clear and strong guidelines in YOUR favor and hold em ransom. You worked hard for decades to create a positive financial situation, which allows you to spend some (hopefully a lot) of years with other areas of focus. I'd argue your time now, is worth even more than before! Soundly.
Bob, you are a better man than me, for even considering to go back.
I worked 41 years. If UPS called me tomorrow and asked me to come back, there isn't any amount of money that would get me to even consider it.
Believe it or not Stanley Works will carry on with you not there. Your now ex boss will find a way to get it done.
IMO, he has a lot of balls asking you to come back.
You won't get 12 months added on at the end if you go back now. Doesn't work like that.
