Long camera soak

I almost completely forgot I had a camera that had been soaking in the White Mountains since the opener of the bear season on September 1st. The bear season was a total bust. A massive mast and berry crop had the bears spread out far and wide and not that interested in bait. I saw one from the stand, well out of range and only had one bear on camera during the season between two baits. Bears killed were down more than 300 from last year. Anyway, I finally retrieved the camera yesterday, which had over 500 pictures on it. Some of them were pretty cool.

The number of coyotes in this area is incredible. I've heard huge packs of them yipping and howling as I hike out in the dark, pretty cool, but eerie. A few hundred of the pictures were coyotes. This guy is by far the coolest looking yote I've ever seen.

Wow that coyote is beautiful. How is the deer population where you are?

Moons, this is the only deer I have on camera after a 6 month soak. Just a little spike. It's right in an area I would expect to see more deer, swamp transition meeting hardwoods. But this is a really huge big woods area. Except for the small road I drive in on, you can walk 10 miles in any direction before hitting another road. But if you drive 30 minutes south down by my camp, Stow/Fryeburg area is serious farm country. Much higher deer densities around that area. Basically no one bow hunts around the farms, but the area gets pounded during gun season.

This cow moose is a bit of a hussy. Every time she came around she posed for a close up shot of her ass.
