Apparently Revolution taxidermy in Hayward has come out with a new decoy, see the link. You wear it on your head and resembles the head of what you are hunting. I just can't imagine wearing a buck deer head with the obvious risk involved. But it is an interesting concept.

Last August I purchased the Ultimate Predator Decoy, it was of a doe deer, and it fits on your bow, with a shoot thru area...... Since I was unable to hunt last fall, I gave it to a friend to use......... He said it worked great both in Nebraska and South Dakota, more open country, and he had a lot of fun.......... In Wisconsin, he was surprised how well it worked, and one trick he did, was hang his bow on a small hanger, while taking a break, and the deer, while he was on the ground, just stared at it, and never spooked..
I am looking forward to using it, this fall. He bought there turkey model for his bow, but agreed you have to be careful in using it,,,,, he was out in open country, and here on private land..................
again this is outside the box, but you can check it out, on You Tube....... I painted a tom turkey on a umbrella for this year, which I am going to use, as a decoy, going at them

I think Les has had pretty darn good success with the Heads up decoys. I think they are pretty much the same as the ultimate predator one. Add to that, that Les continually slays mature bucks on public land using those tactics and too me it says something about both the hunter and the products he uses.

Ishi, the last Yana Indian had a cap of real deer's head. Saxton Pope said he would bob up and down to get the deer's attention and that it was quite effective.

Ishi would turn over in his grave if he saw the gear out there now. I have a Tom decoy that I use once in a while if I am in a safe place. I post a pic of him and a real Tom just before the Tom took his head off before I could put an arrow in him. You can see my blind under the Cedar 14 yards behind the Deeks.

I painted my own turkey on one of my wifes black umbrellas, with paint from Hobby Lobby,,,, I think it will work pretty good.......

Yes, that would be a good idea. 100.00 for a half an umbrella seems like a bit of a rip. For those of us that have no artistic ability like me we could stick one of those cardboard decoys on the front. I think they are Montana Decoys.
