Just curious what are people's thoughts on the Deer Expo out in Madison this weekend? Would my kids enjoy it or would they get bored (be honest)?
A few guys here seem to really like it and will be there. I'll be in Janesville Sunday and am kind of debating on making a weekend of it. Go to the Expo on Saturday and shoot down I39 and get a room in Janesville that night.
I usually go on Sunday, but this weekends weather, is suppose to turn on Sunday, again, so I may go Saturday, even though its busy then, compared to Sunday...... depends on how old your kids are, tough dragging young ones around that crowd on a Saturday............
I haven't been down for a couple of years but I will be going down to meet a new friend, Weather looks crappy to be outside anyways.
I'll be there. Not sure if I'll go Saturday or Sunday. Usually i go Sunday and try to get some deals. Always enjoy looking at the mounts and products
Bring the youngsters to the youth archery range. The WBH and WTA run that together. WBH has Genesis bows and the WTA has stick bows for them to shoot. I should be there on Sunday.
I'll be in the WBH booth Sunday morning. Will be there Friday checking out the booths. Saturday gets to be too crowded & makes it hard to get to see the things you want to see. There is a vendor list & road map on line if you google it.
I'm leaving in a couple hours. Will be there through close Sunday night at the Sitka booth.
Les are you giving an elk seminar too?
It's been a few years since I've been there. My son and I usually went early Sat. It got so crowded you could barely move. The last time I was there was when it opened on Fri. that was better. I really like the show, but it needs a bigger space.
Has anyone been able to find the discount coupons for the show? I tried several links and couldn't.
"Has anyone been able to find the discount coupons for the show? I tried several links and couldn't."
I looked for the coupons also. Apparently, they don't have them anymore.
We will be there on Sunday. I think you can still find the discount coupons in Field & Stream magazine
$15 entrance plus $7 for parking! Getting a little to spendy for me.
I don't care about the price, heck when I drank beer, that was the price of a 12 pack,,,,, I am going to meet Les Welch, and look at his broad head,,,,,,,,,,,,, see some friends......
I was there yesterday. I think the coupons must have been early bird things. You could probobly find one in an issue of WON.
Negative on the WON. Deer & Turkey did not even have a ad in WON. I did hear from a friend that he found a coupon in Outdoor life Mag.. Would have to assume that Field & Stream mag. would have it too.
WOOOO too many people there today
WBH booth and kids archery range was busy. Plus I got a pretty good video of my 5 year old grandson shooting a long bow. Pretty cool but too many people.
Good problem to have that a hunting expo in Dane county was "way too busy".
Heck who knows...maybe hunters will be on the rise soon.
I'm just now getting home from what I thought I'd be done with by 10am.
Hope everyone had a great time.
Odd on the coupons. I know I saw them a bunch of times but I cant remember where. Sucks to get old. It got pretty crowded Friday also. Must be the weather. I will be there tomorrow but I can see the Jefferson Marsh smoking from my house & would rather look for sheds in the burn. If they have it out by tomorrow.
There is a auto parts store that’s sponsoring the event and you can buy advance tickets through them for $3.00 off if you happen to drive by one on your way.
Who would have thought that,? too bad I do not know which one, your talking about, leaving this am for the show
My truck has automatic shut off built in when "harm" may be coming. I can never go anywhere near Madison.
I went today,,,,, nothing else to do.... it was real nice, not crowded, and the 16th st Deli served good subs....... In the process of buying a flintlock, so the ML association guys were helpful, and got a nice cheap tree mount, for my camera,,,,,, most of it was food plot equipment, land management companys, and so many different food plot seeds etc,,,,,,,,
I bought a EZ Kut ratchet pruner,,,,,,, was impressed with the Sitka line, if I was a younger man, I would be making an investment in that stuff, I see why some hunters do, looking at their quality........
all in all it was fun and okay,,,,, got to talk to a biologist, for deer at the DNR booth, he recognized the different numbers, coming out of that 3 year study.......
People at the WBH booth were real friendly, and said they got a strong indication, of a lot of hunters, concerned on cross bow numbers........
Pope and Young was there, long time since they came to a show here.......
But to be honest, I like Deer Fest better,,,,,,,,,,
It is amazing that they can put a show on in Madison with that kind of turn out. They said that 13,000 people went through yesterday. I was glad it was a bit slower today so a person can visit for a while. A lot of venders sold everything they had & all that I talked with had a very good week end.
ground hunter how were the crowds at deer fest
I was in the kids archery range for 90% of the day today and was kept very busy. More than 450 kids went through there over the weekend.
i ran into ground hunter on the short walk that I took. I thought it was quite busy this year.
I met a lot of people I knew there, sorry GVS, wish I had more time to talk to you, man you work hard at those events, you are everywhere........ The crowds were reasonable I thought, that is why I like Sunday.......
As far as selling out, I bought the last tac ta cam attachment at Buck Rub, the last EZ Cut pruner, and yes they sure were selling a lot..... I saw quite a few Ghost Blinds get sold, they were selling no doubt about that
It was an amazing show, people wise. Thinking about it though it was much colder than normal and there was snow cover. Not much ice fishing, shed hunting, or Walleye fishing going on. I think that pushed people inside. It was wall to wall people form most of the day Saturday.
