Ghille Suit Or Similar From The Ground

I feel like BB or someone else started a similar thread like this. But reading the saddle threads, and thinking of your comments DFA in particular, I got to thinking about the ground as a viable hunting strategy again.
Tree's are great, and despite my dislike of altitude, Ill use a climber or fixie for years to come I'm sure.
But often, you are in a spot where, you just cant. The saddle may solve that some times, you could go up a skinny twisty tree or angled tree and be just fine. But you could hunt the ground too.
There are a lot of reasons "not" to... But then I think of the turkey's I've shot, and how none were killed from a tree, all from the ground. If I can fool them, I can fool a deer from the ground (visually at least).
My wife took this pic several years ago last day of shotgun I think. We were basically joking around and she snapped it for fun... But I mean, 4 feet away, with orange and no "cover" and with a 3d suit I'm still breaking up... Now, either with that or a ghillie and it's got to be doable.
So, Tekoa, and anyone else who's done it from the ground for years... boost my confidence :). Am I crazy to think that I could use what I have or invest in a Ghillie and be able to hunt new spots without worry of "what if I can't find a good tree"?
I do my bear hunting from a stool and without a ghille and just having brush in front or behind me ive had deer and coyote very close and never saw me. I can imagine the ghille would be even better. I have one and used it a few times but never had any willing participants to test it out on
Threw in some fake leaves last year..seemed to work ok

You cant beat the thrill of being on the ground bud..been doing it for years before i went airial...looking them in the eye, watching every muscle twitch..f@#kin rush for sure!!..
I like to build my blinds with high enough sides and a sparse back sometimes a roof..depends on the surroundings..plain cabelas leafy suit
As any of the longtime forum members know, I believe my Ghillie suit was critical in allowing me to kill my best buck several years ago. But it is just another tool for the right conditions. I just hate the whole hassle of tree stands. I love to roam, hunting the hottest sign that I find even if it is different spots every few days. On the ground in good cover and not moving too much, hunting well defined trails and waiting for the deer to pass you before drawing works whether in a Ghillie or not. And some deer are just wired tight and even Ghillie's don't work all the time. Last fall on different days my wife and I had the same buck bust us when in our Ghillies. Each time was about 15 yards and we had the wind in our favor. I suspect that deer will die a natural death.
If I have time to make a natural blind I will forego the Ghillie since the odds of getting a unhampered shot off are better. If I am just out for a walk and not sure what I will find or where I will end up hunting for the day my Ghillie is often in the daypack. Overall I'd say get one. Tekoa
With notme on this one. Love the natural ground blinds with my ghillie suit. Nothing like taking a deer with the bow at eye level!
Love that pic Tekoa. You should be featured in the next Rambo movie ha!
Hahaha reminds me of when the deputies were chasing Rambo in the woods and he appears out of nowhere from the tree and the moss to grab the sheriff and put the knife to his throat
Badass pic Tekoa !!! That one will live on forever in the minds and hearts of future hunters everywhere.
I love that pic. I think (and others seem to agree) that you should post it monthly or something Tekoa - that's awesome!
It just hit me, that for about a third of the $, I could buy a ghille over a saddle set up, and hunt any place. The mobility is off the charts. This may be the year... I love the idea.
I just ordered one of these for turkey season... going to use it in upstate NY.
Jimbo, is that basically a "leafy poncho"? Cool idea that totally eliminates the body form...
Will, it's a collapsible chair with the leafy camo attached to it. The camo is stored in a bag on the back of the chair... makes it a very lightweight portable blind... hear some gobbles, put out a decoy, set up the chair, pull the camo over yourself and start calling.
Jimbo, information on this please.
Now thats cool. Where do I get one?
Sorry, so excited about these ghilly suits that my hands are shaking.

I ordered it via Dick's Sporting Goods. See the link.
Very cool Jimbo! Would you mind posting a pic or two when you receive it?
Will do... it should come in later this week.
Must agree bowing from ground nothing like it but don’t forget the shades, been surrounded by turkeys along a wall and I’m talking 3 to 5 feet besides the adrenaline rush all went well. Good day
