Went our the past few mornings and not much action but today I set up in the right spot. Walked in about 445 am and picked an area I had seen lots if scratchings the day before. I put out one hen decoy and waited, as soon as sun started to rise I had gobbling from every direction. I called on and off till around 650 I hear one really close, I call one more time and he runs to my decoy and starts strutting. I can see more coming and gobbling so I waited and picked the biggest. Got a good shot and wish I could try for another.

Nice work, I've been out a handful of times and passed on a few jakes. Still have a lot of season left

We had an amazing morning, first spot had birds gobbling, but they never came in. Second spot a nice tom comes in without gobbling once, Jocelyn drops it, her bird was the biggest of the day at 21 pounds. We move about 300 yards and start calling, almost instantly 2 gobblers start to gobble and they have a very loud, and angry hen with them, they close the distance in about 10 minutes. My friend and I each shoot one of the gobblers. My bird weighted about 17 pounds and had inch long spurs, while my buddies had 1 1/4 inch spurs and was actually just over 16 pounds 12 oz. Its amazing how hunting can go from slow to fast action, just like a flip of a switch.
