Worth looking in to/being aware of: unrelated to hunting, I think schools have something like a 1500-foot setback concerning guns. So you don’t want to be thinking you’re OK, say, 550 feet from a building that turns out to be a school. Whole world of trouble there, if I understand this correctly..

Are you referring to federal gun free school zone act 1990? I dont think it applies if you are driving by a school with otherwise lawfully possessed firearm, or, if you are on private property near a school, or hunting on wma within 1000ft of school. Gift of George Bush.... What's interesting is I also just happened to find out about this law recently and accidentally and it's been on the books for 30 years. "Ignorance of the law is no excuse".
