I have been outta touch with the news and was just catching up and saw this old post on the mountain lion attack in Washington,..
Makes ya wish one of them had concealed carry hand gun for protection,..
Even Bear spray... bad news.
Good point,..
Question for you ,.. which would have been most effective Bear spray or a .45?? one might kill your buddy along with the cat,.. plus aiming while about to get mauled/panicked is a lot easier with a spray.
No clue BB... the gun could kill it or tick it off or miss... The spray increases your odds of a hit...
Draw a circle. Not an oval
Bear Hunting Magazine, had an article in a recent issue that stated spray was a better deterrent during a bear charge. I don't remember the percentages or how they were determined, but the spray won out by a few percentage points. I think it had to do with aim being negatively affected during a time of such high stress and the spray casting a wider net like Will had mentioned.
I will take the actual OC bear spray over a hand gun any day, especially the party sized can. I've sprayed a few dogs that were on me before I knew it and will tell you there is no way possible I would of effectively defended myself with a hand gun without collateral damage. You cant bring a bullet back, but OC cleans up with a little soap and water.
Good points, xi. I've got a couple of those huge cans, can't imagine anything getting past the cloud those put out. I also like having a non lethal option in the rare case that a sow with cubs got a little defensive.

So like a ding bat,.. I started roaming around Youtube videos for lion attack videos,..
I stumbled across this bear attack video in India,.. it is horrific to say the least.
I guess this selfie was just not worth it,.. and who knew a slooth bear could move so fast!
Doesn't seem sloothy to me?
Ya that video has me thinking twice about carrying bear spray while hunting! Maybe I should get my ass to R&R and buy one,..
Xi/HFSC/BB/B&S... Last year I got a can and started carrying it during archery. I've seen several bears while bow hunting... and the idea that I could be walking into the woods in the dark (or out) and have a bear woofing and popping teeth at me or charge... while super low odds, it's possible, so I figured what the heck.
Fricken expensive for the "big" can of the stuff with the trigger handle. Cheaper than the co-pay would be though :)
My theory on Lions though, they are so dang sneaky the first time you may know there is one there is after it lands on you. Still think spray would be good... but the best thing would likely be a person or two with you to try and prevent it from dragging you off.
