I always thought it hurt to over call turkeys. Went out this morning and heard three gobbles and set up on one of them. All of a sudden 50 yards away I hear yelps, putts, clucks, you name it non stop. I start to think damn some other guy is already set up so I just sat their since he was there first and I didn’t want to screw him up. Non stop every turkey sound in the book but I was like damn this guy sounds good! Next thing I knew it flys down holy crap it’s a real bird. She hits the ground and once again non stop calls after calls. I have heard hens before but not non stop. I’m starting to think crap I’ve been doing it all wrong! I kept quiet so she would lure him in and when I heard him get closer I decided to call. Well now here she comes right to me I’m thinking crap she’s going to bust. She walks right by me and the tom is still slow pokey but now I’m thinking she’s going to call him right past me so I kept quiet again. Here he comes in view oh yeah BUT she circled around me and started calling to my right and behind so he veers off so I start calling but he keeps his head pointed in her direction even though I’m closer! Too far damn. But to answer the question can you call to much hell no and I know. Learned a lot today and I tomorrow is another day!
