The elk leave here around Nov. Dec. each year and go I know not where. They usually show back up in late March early April. This evening coming home I saw about 40 of those butterscotch butt beauties. Two bulls, one with a full set of antlers and the other with just one. The rest were cows. So maybe the worst of winter is over?

Man I hope your Punxsutawney Phil Elk are not and indicator that winter is over. I hope they only come out for a very short time, see their shadow and then return to where they came from for 6 more weeks. I would like to 3 or 4 more good snows between now and end of March.

I think the animals know. 90 day outlook for precip is bad with below average expected. 90 day outlook for temps is also bad with above average expected.

I’m already seeing the robins in my backyard here in Flagstaff. Pretty early.
