Early trail Cam Pics
Connecticut

Works been kicking my butt this year. I havent had any time to hit the woods to get minerals and cams out. What does the growth look like so far. How far along are the bucks? Any pics of fawns?
I'm in the same boat as you. All camera's are ready to hang and mineral rock's are sitting in my garage. Just missing one thing.... Time
Same here but this camera has been out all spring for turkeys. Had this little guy stroll by yesterday morning. Growth looks good at this point
Watch out for ticks went out to pick up a stand and had 5 on me when I left!
Any new pics guys?? Im jonesing!!! Help a brother out ??
Not many at this spot. Mostly Does and Bear's.
From one of my landowners. She said there was a bigger one there but he ran off before she could get a picture
One of my cameras is currently assisting the local boy scout troop in catching a can caper. A guy stealing bottles and cans from their fund drive drop off location. Another spy point needs a card formatted and firmware downloaded.... whatever that means. My 3rd camera is Mia.... probably In the garage that needs a good cleaning. I did talk to one landowner yesterday. They stated deer are all over the place.
Permission I have..have to schmooooooze the neighbors
I’d be schmoooozing all day!
Stealing from a Boy Scout fundraiser....Boy your mom would be sooooo proud!!!
Awesome bucks guys. Hoping to get a chance to get a few cams out on monday. Stealing from boy scouts, how low can you get. Smh so sad.
The guy is older and drives a nice Ridgeline... pathetic
Saw this am when fishing in yak
No. Did not flip the kayak - just not sure how to flip the picture !
I don’t put cameras out till late august - early September-
The can caper was caught......it's kinda a funny story. It all went down with a chase that ended in a Walmart parking lot (naturally). All is good. I'll tell it at next year's dinner. I'm sure not me would have a great song to go with it. Back to deer stuff
Thanks. Silverado- need all the help I can get- high tech gadgets- get me every time
Here’s a couple
Here’s a couple
No buck pics yet for me. Hoping all this rain finally gives us acorns. Just the same few does, bobcats and bears on cam
I like that one - it’s a nice looking frame and looks like it’s 100% going to be bigger than anything I’ve ever shot (probably is already ;) )but what I really notice is that his body is so big that it makes his head look a size or two too small.
huge rack and a huge body as well
Unfortunately this is the only buck I'm seeing on any cameras. I guess any deer is a good first deer, though. Still sad I couldn't find a much nicer buck that showed up a few times last year
Just lots of doe so far for me.
You don't see this too often---->
It's a mature 9 pt and a bobcat, wish I made them HD before I deleted the card.
I was just formatting SD cards and found a card I never looked at.
That’s an AWESOME pic, NE! “Mature”… Yeah… That buck’s built like a 35 YO NFL lineman! Always cool to get the interactions and not just a fly-by. Interesting that the cat really has his attention, too…,
“I guess any deer is a good first deer…”
I don’t think I can think of anything worse than getting a really large deer right out of the gate… I keep seeing these pictures of little kids who’ve been taken to some kind of a deer farm and they shoot a “book“ animal the first time they ever set foot in the field, and I just wonder how the hell they’re ever going to enjoy hunting in the real world…??? And let’s face it - CT private land isn’t exactly hunting in the Real World… at least not down here in the Corridor…
I don’t know how it works for all of the Internet superheroes, but I usually find it exciting enough even without some enormous rack there to distract my eye and short out my attention/focus.
I really prefer being able to stay cold & focused until after I’ve seen my bullet/arrow strike right on target; THEN I can enjoy a little buck fever…. ;)
There's no leasing in CT like NY has? I'd like to lease land in CT to hunt if possible.
I wish that Bobcat pic had the clarity of the one from the day before.
One of my favorites from a couple years ago
Huge bases. Hopefully he's still around.
He’s definitely still around. But he’s on the wall in the living room
Big8 plz show us a picture. I would like to see him out of Velvet. Thanks
Did you punch him in the nose TWICE?? LOL. Beast of a buck.
I really like the character on that left beam where the blood vessels were so prominent in velvet.
The record books are so fixated on perfect symmetry that (JMO) the really high-scoring deer are the least interesting of them all…. They’re pretty, alright, but in that Barbie-doll, Too Perfect kind of way…..
I agree with corax.....my buddies uncle shot a 23 point buck back in the early 90's. His head just threw up points. Super cool
Wow! Very nice and thanks for posting a picture
Beautiful buck and a great family picture
I was working in NYC yesterday of all the days, and my wife and daughter watched and videod a bobcat catch a rabbit and it eat it next to my pool.
Put the first camera out yesterday, got 3 bucks last night!
Big 8, great family photo
Steve - let me know about that 1-day lease on your land for me to hunt!
Buddy sent me a picture of this one in Granby yesterday.
Anybody having trouble posting pictures?
Jerry displayed the picture of that stud buck and it over loaded the system!!
Blah blah blah..show off..lol
There are a couple around.
Just hung a camera today. As we pulled in and parked.. in the field a nice buck jumped to his feet.... gonna have to give him some time as he still has targets on him lol. Then my son and I saw a nice wide 8-10 point. A little further walk revealed a 4 pt. Second full year on this property. Good times
I like the location name..lmfao
Yup,during a live hunt from toyland..lol..simpler times they were
I am superstitious about sharing pictures I get before the season starts. This one is from last year. Probably a once in a lifetime shot.
Steve, that pic is pure horn porn, LOL.
Great pic Tones. I had a pic a few years ago of 3 bucks walking up a tree line but not with racks like that.
Ahhh. That's what I'm looking for. Bachelor group.
Toonces.....that's a spectacular pic.
A late start for my cams. They have been out for two weeks.
I wish CT had hunting leases available.
CTBobcat, why would you want a lease when you can have the sort of properties that these deer are on for free; just by some research, establishing relationships, and asking for permission?
I guess I never understood why so many people say that getting places to hunt is impossible, maybe I'm just lucky or something. Probably a lot of people are afraid to ask because they don't deal well with rejection. Lot's of good public land in CT to bowhunt too.
ACE, My same thoughts. You still have to ask the landowner for lease permission so what is the difference with just asking for free?
In Kentucky I lease ($5000) about the same amount of acres as I hunt for Free in CT.
I reject the idea I can't deal with rejection, LOL.
As bad as CT is for a lot of things, I appreciate that we don't have to pay extra to hunt. $5000 to hunt whitetails is insane unless it's guided for trophy animals, or unlimited tags. JMO, it's obviously worth it for others, it's big business elsewhere.
CTBobcat,
There is nothing preventing you from leasing property to hunt in CT if you want. I was in a group that leased a property for several years. Private shooting and game clubs are mostly leased in CT if I had to guess.
BrianM. My $5000 lease is for me or as many people I bring. So my Dad and 2-3 brothers, it's under a grand a Year. Well worth it in my opinion.
I cold call lots of CT landowners offering $ but no luck. I target them based on ONX, etc. Of course, if someone offered for free i would do it lol
I get 1800 acres for free. And that isn’t state land.lol
That makes a considerable difference nehunter. It makes it a reasonable vacation getaway. How many tags does Kentucky allow?
Unlimited Does. Only one Buck. Longer season than CT.
But a 3 year old Buck is usually Pope and Young.
Steve - congrats on the 1,800 to hunt. Can I pay you to hunt 50 of them? lol
I understand the leasing thing, but I appreciate the way I started hunting and that was by permissions. Stacking firewood, helping around a farm for the right to hunt. I'm afraid those opportunities may not have been there had those farms been leased. I hope CT stays the way it is so the young hunters have a chance at good land to hunt. Leasing seems very rare here.
Ct bobcat pay attention next year to the ct dep site and put in for the permits. A lot of guys on here have them .
Not a trail cam pic. I drove up to within 20 yards of this little one lol. On my way to get my spy point that says it has zero battery life when I know that they are brand new. I believe cameras are more of a pain than they're worth.
Camera issues are part of life it seems. I've had this Browning cell cam for 4 years, worked excellent. Then last week it wouldn't send a picture.
Called Browning and they said send it back to us Well I just received a brand new one, no charge for anything. I swear that customer service is the most important thing when dealing with electronics that we leave outside.
I'll Never buy a few other brands as they suck with issues. Can't talk to anyone but Browning the techs actually answer the phone.
@Soap - Bought a Spy Point 2 years ago and the same thing happened to my camera, 12 lithiums Dead in 2 days. $50 worth of batteries.
This guy, nice tall 8 walked within 35 yards. Probably would have gotten closer but his smaller side kick got me as I was moving to the other side of the tree. Then I inhaled some spit....cough cough bye bye. Now back to getting my camera lol. NE...I did hear good things about the Browning. It seems like with the spy point cameras, can't let the batteries die. Otherwise it's a new card/ format and firmware.

Cabelas had some spy points on sale for $60. I almost bought one but decided I didn't need the hassle. Glad I didn't get it hearing this.
I'm not bashing them. I learn more about the deer being in the woods. Example being...the deer I saw today were 50 yards behind my camera. I know that there's a nice bedding area that they were heading to through scouting/hunting last year. I just don't think that they add much to ones success. They are kinda neat for chits and giggles or if I had a bait pile (not judging if allowed in your zone).
Caught this one crossing the road other day with two Fawns about a quarter mile from where I hunt

I had one like that for about 5 years . Then never seen her again.
Steve was that in the New Canaan/Stamford area?
No Shelton. She was a big girl!
Steve - I'm new to CT, but yes i'm aware of the stateland spots, town hunts, and have aquarion permit as well. I also hunt NY via permission on private (from cold calling via snail mail) and stateland.
I shot this piebald September 16, 2019 with only one spike in velvet about a quarter mile from where I took that first picture

I hope you had that hide tanned that is neat!
Some decent ones in above photos! Season is up and coming quick!

Finally a shooter on cam for me. 10pt.
The hungry children of the night; I both love "em and hate 'em.
Hey Steve did the coyotes kill something there or were you baiting?
Came in and ate a corn block
I hung a stand here today and cleared some lanes with my chainsaw on a stick. He came to investigate within 5 hours. I believe he is the smaller 8 I saw last week that was with a tall 8.
My first ever moose pics.
Toonces. That so cool. What part of the state?
