Ive hunted this 7 acre piece of Private Land in South Kent for several years now. Every year like clockwork a significant amount of buck sign starts showing up starting in mid October. This year because of work I did not get a chance to put cameras up or get in there for any reason. This must of encouraged more/bigger bucks to move in!! Monday Afternoon was my second sit and although I didn't see a deer, the amount of rubs and scrapes within 30 yards of my stand was insane and I knew I had to go back the next morning. I got into my stand 20 minutes before legal shooting, bumped 1 maybe 2 deer and 30 minutes into the sit everything was quiet so I decided to hit the antlers. Within 10 minutes at about 200 yds out I see a massive body and antlers moving through the woods. No need for my Bino's I know he's Huge!! For about 2 minutes which seemed forever he gets hung up at a scrape so I grunt at him, he looks up and starts running towards me. In a gap in a stone wall at 40 yds he starts angling down the hill away. At about 45 yds I let my first arrow fly and I see the lighted knock sail right over his back!! Cursing to myself I knock another arrow just in case by some miracle he stays. I grunt at him again and he stops at about 80 yards. As he starts to walk away I snort wheeze at him and he starts walking up the hill again right at me. Im on the top of a hill, 25 ft in my climber and he is down the hill on the other side of a stone wall. He must think there is a buck up there that he can't see and he must fight it. This time he gives me a 40yd broadside shoot and I make this one count! I hear the pop of both lungs and he bolts straight downhill over a stone wall and piles up 150 yds from the shoot. Massive 10, my first 10 and every bit of 200 lbs. Get out there, they are moving and at least in the northwest hills not locked down with does yet.
