Bobcat, congratulations. Doing it from the ground with not commercial blind is quite a thrill, isn't it? Getting away with the draw is always what blows it, or moving too much. So you must have fundamentally good self discipline. Looks like a pretty spot to commune with predatory nature.

Thanks, Dr. Deer. I grew up shotgun deer hunting (always on the ground, never a treestand or blind). Killed lots of deer sitting very still and/or stalking a little closer. I then got into crossbow hunting and killed some good bucks from ground also. After using an accubow to build up my shoulder (completely separated), I then got into compound hunting. First like 46lbs, now I'm around 52lbs. I don't always hunt the ground, sometimes ladder or hang-ons. The properties i hunt in CT and NY are very steep hills, so sometimes you only need a 6ft hang on. In this spot, I didn't need any additional elevation. I drew and shot all while sitting down on a seat cushion on a rock. I practice shooting both sitting and standing for situations like this.
