My buddy Nick is here visiting with us for the week. We are headed to Kaena Point today and tomorrow to fish for Giant Trevally on topwater. This is the most northern point on Oahu and has the most rugged coastline on the island. I don’t have a sticker to access the trail system so we are hiking in a total of 6 miles round trip of just rocky coast line with scattered beaches. Will take pics as we go so you guys can see what it’s like there

North... That's relative. Don't forget your long johns.

Have fun, cool adventure. Will you carry back the giants?

Dth, have fun. Are these fish relatives of the Jack Crevalle? I caught off Fla (gulf side) ?

Well North shore swell was tough for us. No fish caught 11 miles logged and actually hunted in the afternoon. Saw no pigs either. Hahah I will post some pics tonight

The very tip of Kaena Point. This is where two currents collide and 400yds off shore are depths of up to 1000 ft. Must have seen a dozen whales today out here.

Here is a Laysan Albatross. The point is a major nesting area for these. These birds spend their lives out to sea except for a brief moment when they come into nest. They mate for life also. Pretty neat bird to say the least. Must have been 25-30 breeding pairs.

Pi. All catch and release if we did catch anything. The place holds some Large fish. There are rod holders drilled into the lava here and next to those rod holders are spikes and or bolts drilled into the rocks for tethers !!! This will be a place to go in the spring and summer when the surf is calm. I can’t wait to hit there again when the time is right

So my buddy Nick who is in the pics for GT fishing is here. I guided him for bones today. Within an hour he had 4 legit chances on fish. Finally he connected and he got his first Pacific bonefish !!! He was obsessed with these things. He was here for 2 months for an internship with NOAA and never got one !! To say I am excited for him is beyond words.
