Let's see those open water catches! I'm on the walleye hunt, got 3 out of the ct river before it got flooded out. Took the daughter out for her first time fishing today, was lucky enough to bring in a carp to show her! She loved it!! Good luck to all wetting a line!

If you want walleye there’s way way more productive waters than the ct river estuaries and Eddie’s … send me a message I can send you a place we hammer them through the ice . Nothing to get 10 walleye in a night through the ice . And seen them caught up to 13 lbs!

I’ve been fishing for 45 years and have never hooked a musky or a walleye.

Wilga's point is good. Early season, fishing CT river tribs can be awesome.

White perch, crappie, walleye plus a trip or two for native brookies. The white perch and crappie fill the freezer, that is usually not a problem. A few brookies go in the pan but not too many. Walleyes are my kryptonite. I catch a few per year, just enough to keep me going back but no where near as many as I would like. IMO they are the best eating freshwater fish.

Going to see if I can catch a brook trout in an unnamed stream today. Maybe too much water, hoping for the best.

Funniest walleye I ever caught was like 5 miles up a CT river trib in like July just below a wastewater plant outflow. Normally a great summer smallie spot... Set the hook, and was amazed to see what came to hand, a nice walleye. Most I've caught in MA were just up from the CT early spring.

Good luck Jeb! Fully agree with you tekoa, Walleyes are by far the best tasting fresh water fish! Tried walleye wings for the first time the other night, delicious!!! Wilga if I ever get down to ct I'll be looking for your advice, iv got a spot in mass that produces good numbers on a consistent basis, no 13lbers tho!!!

Water too high, skill and temp too low. The trout won today, but it was a nice walk in the woods.

Would love to try some walleye! Of all the time we fished in Vermont we never caught any! Always heard they were the only fish to eat out of the ice. Nice to hear they are making a comeback

Carp. Super under appreciated freshwater gamefish !!! Nice one too. Sometimes you get a dead log of a fish but for the most part the have a couple blistering runs and a good fight. Nice fish !!!!

They are wicked fun to catch! Especially for a freshwater fish with the chance of catching a 40-50lb fish!!! Can't wait for some summer nights on the river with a fire and bite alarms buzzing!

He always catches the biggest fish with zero effort!!! He's tied for the state record catch and release pike. Got a 27" walleye his first time trying for em. Got a 30lb carp on my rod when I went to the truck to grab a snack. Not sure how he does it but he is a magnet for big fish.
